Nioh 1 is better. The combat in Nioh 2 feels slower, more punishing and less rewarding. It is nice that there are some new weapon types to use, but it doesn't fix the former complaints. It is a shame you cannot easily swap to new weapons to try different styles like the 1st game. Now you must grind each weapon and power individually.

The story to me feels less engaging because they turned you into joe nobody the chosen one who can easily be mogged by the weakest of foes. They made it seems like you're some sort of special all powerful being, but the drafted farmer can gut your ass in 2 swings much like the strongest of yokai.

I would say you'll like it if you want something harder than dark souls and elden ring, but you won't like it if you just want to relax and play video games.

Playing a bit more and I must say the soundtrack is far superior to Nioh 1 and some of the new maps are very nice and have their own unique challenges. I think I was a bit salty in my initial review due to this game punishing you far harder at low levels even when you know how to play. Yeah I would recommend it but I still in a way prefer Nioh 1.

The game is pretty decent and looks good but for some reason it still can run really poorly on pc which makes no sense to me as a 2d game. There are input problem with steam and the game. I can't say for sure what is the cause of the problem but it isn't controller speciffic. It may work better on other systems, so maybe it'd be best to buy it on there rather than pc.

I find there isn't a consistent growth in the difficulty of bosses relative to the skills gained. Most of the bosses take 1 try in the first 3/4 of the game and the last bit it can take 10+ which just seems odd. Few of the bosses require you to use your newer skills so you don't really learn how to use it so this is a design flaw to me that plenty of these less linear games suffer from.

Still it is worth a buy.

Great game, but my one gripe is that the human bosses don't follow the same or similar battle logic as the player. It is dumb they are able to use their spirit power again and again while we as the player not only have to wait before we can charge it but we have to beat a bunch of enemies to charge it.

Love the weapon choices and the unique setups you can have. the magic and ninjutsu add another layer to the combat giving you many options. It is nice they let you reset your level easily enough to try different builds as every weapons seems to have one it is great at fighting and one it isn't.

Performance is great and graphics are great for its year. It doesn't suffer the same crap darksouls did with the platforming which is nice. I even find elden ring has less precise movement compared to this game.

It is pretty good with well written lore that you can choose to read and learn. The combat is simple but good for a companies first AAA game.

Game is a bit buggy, but i've not had game breaking bugs which is nice compared to other new games which are rarely worth buying within the first couple months after release.

Short but interesting expansion to the original game with the addition of some new powers and enemies. It helps fill in some holes of the main story and is worth the money.

It is promising and worth the money as these devs deliver on their games.

You know its a good game when you don't realise how much time has passed. The soundtrack fits this game so well and each biome. It is nice to just have the music int the background while working. The art style combined with the physics is very satisfying and just proves more that you don't need the best graphics to portray a beautiful story.

I was hoping I could use the yo-yo to swing if i wrapped it around 2 edges or if you could use it to descend due to its spinning friction.

I enjoy when devs make a choose your own path and increase the difficulty along whatever path you take rather than leaving it all the same which leads to decreasing difficulty often. Turbo kid also did this pretty decently if you're looking for another game that isn't too long or hard, but has good world building.

Can't wait to see what Bigmode does next.

It is a pretty decent metroidvania game and certainly is non-linear. If you are determined enough you can take any route when you want. The game controls are pretty tight and the combat is fairly decent. There is some variety in gameplay which is always enjoyable. The bosses could be harder, but the few i've beaten are unique in how you fight them rather than just shoot them till they die.

The game is oddly gorey event though life doesn't feel grim at all like the people don't care about death.

I'd give it a 7.5/10
