Dota 2 is an immensely deep game with unique mechanics, bugs, interactions that don't translate to any other game in its genre. If you want to feel like you even have a drop of knowledge in the game you'll have to devote hours of your life to binge watching youtube videos, pro pubs, playing the game, etc. Simply put, there is no return this game can give you that is worth the investment you'll have to put in. Valve lacks communication which Riot or other competitors don't. If you want a competitive game you can immerse yourself in, do yourself a favor, find one which has a growing community and enough commitment from the devs to have quality communication. I don't believe Dota 2 is that. If you want to find a game that you can play for fun after work as you crack open a cold one, please don't play Dota 2. I tried to play for fun at first, and created a community based around having fun playing dota in a more casual sense. While I don't regret creating that community or continuing to participate in it, there are so many better games to play for fun.

Dota 2 brings out the absolute worst in people. Don't get me wrong, getting that rampage or that pudge hook to clutch a game feels ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ great. But with all things in life, there are highs and lows and I am of the opinion that the highs of Dota 2 don't come close to outweighing the lows. Go outside, go talk to people in real life. I am glad for what Dota 2 offered me as a way to do something during COVID-19. Now that the pandemic is pretty much over where I live I am hoping my interest in this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game will also be over. Do yourself a favor, go play fortnite or something that you can actually have fun in. Better yet, go for a walk, talk to your family, try to see if you ♥♥♥♥ out corn that you ate 2 days ago, these are all better investments of your time than Dota 2.
