Before I got this game on Steam, I've been playing every MH title out there (except for the PS2 version) and been refusing World, saying stuff like "it's ruining the game's honor". After Rise came out, and finished to the point I could play, I decided to give it a chance again, since my first time experiencing World was on the PS4, where the loading times were a hell compared to the hunts.

Playing the game again, beating it, watching every little detail the game has to offer to me, it just fascinated me. Truly, it was worth giving it a second chance. The gameplay feels so smooth (however, compared to Rise, it might look slower on evasions), and the story, while it may not look like a big thing, it just brings you to the addiction by wondering what would you be faced against after the next quest.

TL;DR: MHW exceeded all my expectations.

Even after the main story ends, you still get tons of challenges to do. So, if you are looking for a long game, to challenge yourself over and over, this is the right game for ya. If you are a big fan of the series, trust me, you won't regret adding it to your library.

When to buy?

If you are sure you only want MHW and not Iceborne expansion, go get the base game when you want! Both original and sale price are fine for what it brings.
If you, however, want also Iceborne, wait for a sale and buy the base game + Iceborne pack (make sure you pick the correct, it has to include both Monster Hunter World and Monster Hunter World: Iceborne on the pack).

What does Iceborne brings? (for people who doesn't know)

- Master Rank, quests that are in a higher level than High Rank (Lower Rank>High Rank>Master Rank)
- 2 new mechanics during hunts: Clutch Claw and Raider Ride
- Along with Master Rank, new monsters/armor/weapons

For full experience, go for Iceborne expansion. If you aren't sure if you are going to enjoy the game, then go play base game first, and, if you liked it, go for IB.
