Poor Sophia's diner must be built out of fishfingers I've sold her that many...

I am a sucker for stardew/harvest moon/animal crossing type games, as well as a sucker for well written stories.
Wylde flowers feels like a fusion of all of them PLUS MAGIC, and in the best way. It is positively a warm, wholesome, comforting hug in a game and I couldn't wait to get home and play it after a stressful day.

If you expect this game to be just like Stardew and are expecting to be min-maxing your profits, you will be disappointed. Farming is definitely important in WF but it comes secondary to the story, you could just grow the crops you need for quests then ignore the rest, for me this is a massive plus as it gives way more freedom, but I know for others it may be a turn off.

Now to talk about the best part of this game. The writing. All of the characters are different, but believably written, with their own quirks and interests. There are some heavy topics brought up in a tasteful manner such as grief, loss, family estrangement, religion, gender dysphoria, sexuality, loneliness, bullying and so much more. The cast is inclusive, diverse and fully voice acted.
The story and characters have been written in a way that I actually care about them, even the less likeable ones, all of them make mistakes or have flaws and I was always really excited to find out the next piece in their story.

The overall main storyline is really well written and very sweet. It got me emotional with full on sobbing on more than one occasion, something that games haven't managed to do that often. I was proper sad when I realised I'd finished the main story!!

The daily loop can get a bit repetitive, but I honestly didn't mind that much as the whole game just made me feel relaxed and happy.

I would LOVE to see a DLC or a sequel to Wylde flowers, I want to learn even more about the beautiful island of fairhaven and it's witches that Studio Dryrock have built.

Oh and you can adopt a cat called Cleocatra, instant 10/10
