EDIT: I had a discussion with mullacabra and realised that my original review kinda didn't make any sense (I did not recommend the game but said you should support it?) I left the old review below my new one, and both of them touch on different topics so i'd say they're both worth a read, thanks.

APB has had a long and messy life, it was a game too ambitious for its developers.
The concept of APB Reloaded is an open world gta-style mmo, taking a larger emphasis on the mmo part than gta online. The character and vehicle customization is fantastic, and a robust built-in music creator are strong points of this game, but that actual gameplay (driving, and gunplay) feels unfinished. Due to the nature of free-to-play games, you can purchase weapons that are easier to use and more powerful, but getting good with the f2p guns can make you sort of competitive. After the original developers (Realtime Worlds) went under, Reloaded productions took over, and introduced the free-to-play model we see today. Unfortunately the company made promises to fix the game that they ended up breaking after seeing the poor reception of their relaunch. Fast forward many years later and Little Orbit picked up the rights. LO have the same goals, to support and fix the game. It's still early to predict anything, but APB is in the best state its been in forever. Give the game a try, it's free to play and if you like it please give your support to developers and maybe even participate in dev streams, forums, or community events.

OLD REVIEW (read it if you would like, does talk about a few different things i skipped above)

I played this game alot about 4-5 years ago, and simply stopped because the gameplay was horribly unbalanced and Gamers First didn't care as long as we were still throwing money their way. Their broken promises and montization efforts killed what little chance this game had. But now little orbit is under control and I get it, releasing cosmetics and ignoring gameplay problems seems like a kick in the teeth when they promise to fix this game, but the company needs to make money so it makes sense to keep working on it, the cheating won't go away until the engine upgrade, which is probably 75% done at this point in time. Fixing the exploits now when the game is moving engine versions is pointless, as those fixes may not work on the newest build, wasting developer resources. We need to give this game time to rebuild, but we need to support little orbit to make this happen. I see a strong future for this game, a future I want to be a part of.

Let us hope that the change will truly benefit the game, and community as a whole.

it's important that this engine update goes live. While it will increase the time until real change can happen, it may have never even begun if Little Orbit chose to stay on unreal 3.0.

It isn't that I don't feel where you are coming from, but this game has been going downhill for so long that I can't see any positive change coming. In changing engines they won't even have real updates due to the fact the new engine would be too unstable, so even after the switch there will be more waiting after this already muddled slog through garbage.

i think i understand what you mean, i will try and change this review to shine it in a different light, and get the intended message across.

Ever tried to convince someone a pile of poop will not be a pile of poop forever by recommending someone stay away from the pile of poop and talk to and follow the person who made the poop?

It doesn't work, I can assure you this.

the game has many problems that i deem not worth playing for most people, but that doesn't mean you can't join their dev streams and participate in the forums, or spreading awareness of this game.
