SMT III: Nocturne is a classic. One of the better of the Megami Tensei series and one of the best among the jRPG genre. Think "demonic pokemon", where you adventure through a bizzare, post-apocalyptic world, full of demons, spirits and alike, and ally yourself with various demons to customize and use for your team. A great, challenging, yet satisfying dungeon crawler with a unique theme that quickly became a cult classic.

Sadly, the HD Remaster is little more than a port of the 2003 Playstation 2 game, with VERY LITTLE improvements or additions. The graphics haven't been improved much, aside from higher resolution, the game is locked to 30 FPS, the controls feel stiff, and the music still uses the original, compressed audio from the PS2. Plus there's the Denuvo DRM that may cause issues for some people.
Pretty much the only new thing is the added Voice-Acting (JP and EN), and the ability to hand-pick skills during demon fusion, aside from some very minor tweaks.

Honestly, this wouldn't be too bad on its own if it wasn't for the ABSURD asking price, and a bunch of additional day-one DLC. The game is way, WAY too expensive for what it is. Naturally I bought it anyway, but that's simply because I wanted to replay Nocturne for years now, and having it on PC is kind of a dream come true. Or just call me a fanboy, or an idiot, or whatever. I was fully aware of what I was getting into and personally I don't regret it. The game is still great after all those years and it works fine for me on PC, so the decission to pre-order it was just me being eager to play it.

That said, it's very much overpriced. If you're not a hardcore Megami Tensei fan, then wait for a discount. A big one. Nocturne is a great game and I highly recommend it, but let's not cheat ourselves by saying releasing such low-effort ports for such a high price is fine...
