Pathologic 2 is a grueling struggle for survival against death itself; one where the only way to 'win' is to continually push forward and drag yourself across the ground, tooth-and-nail while looking with dismay at the other characters dropping like flies around you while a plague ghost is sprinting full bore at your ragged, starved body. It manages to be one of my favorite games that'll stay with me for a long time even in spite of it having noticeable oddities and bugs (that in my experience don't really drag anything down). It's a fantastic sequel/reboot/reimagining of the first game, cleaning up and tightening the experience into a more cohesive and focused experience, and is everything I'd hoped it would turn out to be.

In Pathologic 2, you're tasked with solving and surviving a plague ravaging a town disconnected from the rest of the world. The further into the game you get, the more things begin to fall apart and the more strange the town is revealed to be. It's a unique experience I heavily recommend to anyone that enjoys a challenge and a gradually unfolding mystery set against a backdrop of despair. Death and failure is unavoidable, but that's the point; just roll with it. The narrative is written around you dying a fair amount and being 'punished' for such deaths, and if you don't you'll miss out (which is inevitable regardless of how good or bad you play; a single playthrough will only show you some of the story).

The newly added difficulty sliders are varied and numerous allowing you to tweak the game's difficulty in almost every way should you reach a point or situation where you can't progress further. I understand 'what is possible for everyone to beat' is highly subjective and up to the individual, but I still suggest making it so that you're only juuuust able to crawl across the finish line, since much of the narrative (both textual and meta-textual) is benefited from this kind of unique experience.
