Early Access Review
An uninspired clone of Blizzard RTS games with an interface and gameplay almost 20 years out of date and nothing to make it unique or interesting.

I tried to play and got disconnected from a private match against an AI a couple of minutes in. Neat.

Wish I could get my money back.

This is one of the most thoughtfully designed games I've ever played. Every single little thing has been considered. Nothing is lazy. It's crazy what they've done with this engine. Most importantly, it's fun. The combat is better than most AAA shooters. The guns are VERY chunky and powerful. The performance is shockingly good. There are tons of options, including accessibility settings. I have nothing to complain about.

Definitely could have used more time in the oven. Another month or three. It's jank. That said, it's not NEARLY as bad as people are making it out to be. Some bad behavior from the devs aside, it's a decent game. I'm having fun with it.

I can't believe it took me this long to play this game. This is incredibly well made. Lots of fun and just great level design. Also performs perfectly. No complaints.

Good, albeit short and hardly horror. Looks great on an OLED screen.

DO NOT buy this game in its current state. The demo runs well, but the full release of the game behaves like a power virus and will light your CPU up, all while performing poorly (less than 50% the FPS of the demo).

The game looks really promising other than that, so if they patch it out, I will update this review.

Plays a lot like Dusk but has problems.

- The weapons aren't very satisfying. Maybe it's the sound design?
- The game is ugly as sin and hard to read.
- The environments aren't memorable or interesting.
- The ammo distribution is bad. You'll run the revolver dry in seconds but the machine gun never seems to run out. The first episode, if you're lucky enough to find the super shotgun, lets you fire it maybe five times.
- The statue enemies near the end of the first episode are complete BS and the boss is pretty lame, blasting you with homing explosive attacks.

The music is good though.

It's fine, but it's not really worth the cost. It's more of the same, with nothing really groundbreaking. It's isolated from the main storyline, so it's a standalone experience. Unfortunately, most of the equipment you unlock is only useful in the new zone. You're not missing much if you skip this and just play the base game.

This one had to grow on me a bit before I enjoyed it. I think part of that is the ammo scarcity combined with the fact that I did not realize how powerful the blade was at first. The secondary attack shreds enemies and is essential to enjoying the game.

I really love Quake. I love the simplicity of it. Wrath really scratched the itch for more OG Quake, albeit with some differences. For one thing, Wrath's levels are massive. It's not uncommon to spend more than an hour in a level. There are tons more enemies because it's 2024 and our hardware can handle that in the Quake engine (DarkPlaces). Coupled with the high health of enemies, this game can be a slog, and you definitely shouldn't play it all in one sitting. The combat is slower and more methodical than a lot of other games in the genre.

This game manages to be sort of like a combat puzzle in that certain weapons are needed for certain encounters. Coupled with ammo management, you are pretty much always thinking about what you're doing. It's not quite as simple as mindlessly shooting things, but it's far from as complicated as something like Doom Eternal. The game gets better in episode 2, when you get access to more weapons.

There were a few times I got lost and couldn't figure out how to progress. Once or twice, I had missed a switch or something. Once, I didn't realize the floor under a health pickup was an elevator, having not stepped on it since I had full health, leading to 15 minutes of wondering around looking for the way forward. Other than those few times, the levels generally give good indication of where to go. Enemies act as signposting and keep you on the right track, despite the enormous maps. The levels are great. The three distinct episodes give you a variety of maps. Some of it was a bit bland at first, but I really enjoyed episodes 2 and 3. There are some cool environments in those two, and parts of episode 3 felt a lot like the original Quake.

Enemy variety is a bit lacking, given how long the game is. Another five or so enemy variants would have gone a long way. As it is, you will find you are fighting a ton of the same enemies, some more annoying than others. Almost every weapon feels weak at first, but I think a lot of that is the sound and visual design of them. Once you figure out how to use them, they really do (mostly) pack a punch. A couple of them are unique designs and do fun things. You can even do some animation canceling with the lance and shotgun, a lot like Doom 2016 / Eternal.

The items you pick up are a good addition. I found I held on to them more than I could have, but they ended up being really helpful in episode 3 and with the final boss. I liked most of them. The cruel aegis was useless 99% of the time, but everything else was cool. The item wheel makes them easier to use than items in other games, like Hedon and other Doom-like games with an inventory.

There is a bit of story and lore in this game, but it is almost entirely forgettable. If you're looking for those things, this isn't the game for you.

Overall, I very much enjoyed my time with this one.

Very Doom 2016. Maybe a little too Doom-like at times, but it definitely has its own identity, particularly later in the game.

It can be a bit too easy early on, because you mainly face the Chaos enemies, which are easy. The Prodeus enemies are much harder, but the game never gets too difficult. Earlier levels tend to be samey in appearance early on, but this also opens up later in the game.

The game performs very well and has plenty of good options. You can select sprites or models for enemies, which is really cool. You can even change your player characters colors, which is reflected in the hands on gun sprites.

Weapon selection also gets more unique later into the game. Otherwise, it's a standard Doom arsenal. You have your shotgun, SSG, rapid fire rifles, chaingun, plasma rifle, and rocket launcher, but with a few "upgraded" versions of some of these weapons, as well as a few more unique chaos-themed weapons.

Lots of fun here and little to complain about.
