The game is fantastic, though a little longer than I'd have liked. LOTS of features. Very Doom Eternal in feel, but not as strictly rhythmic. Plenty of freedom in movement and approaches to combat.

My only gripe is the game has really small micro stutters, varied level to level. It's enough to keep me from replaying it for now, but a lot of people don't seem to notice.

S-tier game otherwise.

It took me forever to get this game to run correctly because it apparently runs in software mode by default. In order to get a good experience, I had to set launch options to force OpenGL and exclusive fullscreen, then set the quality to low. Most people won't even know how to do this, so I can't recommend the game on that basis alone.

That said, there IS a fun game in here. It gets bogged down in wall humping too much and some of the level design is bad, but other levels, particularly when they start to open up, can be a lot of fun once you get good weapons unlocked. It's a shame so much XP is obtained by finding secrets. Either you get frustrated looking for them or you repeatedly alt-tab out to a guide. Either way, it detracts from the gameplay.

Lastly, the achievement for beating the game on the hardcore difficulty is broken. It only unlocks in the beta branch of the game and only on the hardest difficulty, not the one it says it should be. You can cheat to get the achievement, so I did that after getting really mad that my entire second playthrough was a waste of time.

Fun game plagued with problems. I had fun in spite of them, but for most people, just play something else.

This runs and plays way too well for what is essentially a 90s ****post. Lots of fun.

This one had to grow on me before I enjoyed it. It ends up being a lot like Doom, but not the original like it thinks. It's more like Doom 2016. Arenas and hallways, mostly. Plenty of fun once things start to gel, though there is a lot of bad level design. It's a shame about the Unreal Engine shader / traversal stutter. I doubt they'll fix that at this point. Otherwise a pretty solid game.

Short but fun. Spooky. Doesn't outstay its welcome.

Relaxing and well-made. Be careful not to give yourself RSI. Throw on a podcast or audio book and go.

Also, this game has no business looking so good. Clean, good texture quality, great colors, and no overuse of post-processing. It's very easy on the eyes and I wish more games would look like this.

Chasm: The Rift is an interesting game. It's a hacked together 2.5D Quake-like game that is pretty cool for its time. Despite being an interesting technical curiosity, the game itself is just bad. Chasm features some of the worst level design I have ever experienced. The levels are labyrinthine, nonsensical messes with completely unfair traps and constant places with guaranteed damage, no matter how good you are. Some of the enemies are entirely unfair and the game loves spawning them around you, trapping you in narrow spaces. The weapons are mostly uninteresting and you're bound to kill yourself by shooting an invisible wall with the rocket launcher. There is also so little ammo for most of them, you'll end up just using the shotgun 90% of the time. Bosses are all gimmicks and a couple of them are so insanely janky, you may have to look up what to do.

If you absolutely love Quake, this may be worth a one time playthrough to experience something new, but expect to be frustrated.

Early Access Review
Cute Doom. Very solid and little to complain about if you're a Doom fan. Simple yet effective.

Immortal Redneck meets Borderlands. All of the best parts of roguelites and very little of the bad. Incredibly satisfying gameplay loop. Great music. Very replayable. Very responsive. Lots of game options and quality of life features. $20 is a steal. Can't recommend this enough.
