This game is a bit rough; but it's also the closest thing to a new Advance Wars game in a VERY long time.

I'll be honest; I initially bought this game to give to friends. But I've discovered something deeper than my love for my friends- My love for chairs.

I've only ♥♥♥♥♥♥ a few chairs, but I'm already starting to feel like clint eastwood. Thank you devs. Thank you.

I'll try to keep it concise:

1. The movement seems to be based on an invisible grid system making movements feel clunky and inaccurate.
2. There are elements in the office maze sections of the game which are not explained at all. For example, one office worker I bumped into just talked to me about a new website, while another one released smoke that made me lose the level? It'd be nice if there was some sort of explanation of what npcs are friendly, and which ones are not because its incredibly unclear.
3. Most of the game is spent in your home. Regardless of if you win or lose a level, you're constantly forced to go to your home, to hear your wife spout the same dialogue, and then sit at the same table to get the same dinner to then exit your bedroom to then hear your wife spout the same dialogue to then finally be able to leave your home to play the game. This just seems like a way to pad out your playtime without actually playing the game. It's fine the first time, but to hear the same dialogue and do the same motions each time you want to play another level makes me not want to continue to play the game because it feels like it punishes you for playing it. To be fair, the dev does state that this repetition is a part of the experience, so I can only speak for myself when I say I found it hard to enjoy.
4. The goal is to retire; so I really don't understand why you care about promotions. Do your employers know you're leaving? It's unclear

Anyway, my experience with the game is subjective. Hopefully, you can have a better Idea of what to expect if you do decide to buy it.

MY FINAL THOUGHTS AFTER REVISITING IT SEVERAL MONTHS LATER (STORY MODE):

1. Grid movement system works for in the office, but when you're in an empty house your movement is incredibly restricted. The grid works for being in a cramped office space, but doesn't translate well to an open home.

2. At the end of the first day of work, Dave's Wife told him that she would have dinner "ready in an hour". Dave walked from the door to the kitchen table, and the food was ready. I'm amazed that it takes Dave an hour to walk to a table from the doorway. How many hours do you think he spends walking around a larger office to collect coffee beans?

3. My boss likes to remind me that he is, in fact, my boss. He also brings up the concept of promotions. I work well enough, and I can earn one! This sounds cool, until you realize that promotions are literally pointless. Your money earned in game is based on the difficulty of the level you take on. Your promotion doesn't impact that at all.

4. Every day you can earn money and promotion points. This is fine, but I find it odd that if you fail a day, you don't earn any money, but you still earn promotion points? I thought promotion and pay were both linked to a good performance.

5. I realized that buying items Dave's Wife wants is kind of silly, because it will take at least a few days to afford wallpapers, and then you have to wait several days for it to arrive. and then you are literally prevented from opening the wallpaper until it is sunday, which essentially means that you'll only be able to buy three things that your wife wants before you retire in 30 days. I also found it particularly frustrating to have Daves Wife say "When are you going to put up the new wallpaper" when the game will not let me interact with it.

6. Taking a screenshot in-game opens up the devtools, which I can only assume is not intended

7. Going back to promotions, the concept of them are doubly pointless as you're going to retire in 30 days regardless. It doesn't make sense to care about that when your primary goal is to buy material things within a short timespan. Earning a promotion doesn't matter. because it doesn't give you more money which makes it pointless for the end game.

8. I noticed that I had a powerup that was not explained to me. I don't know how to use it, or what it does. The game explains what it is once you've played several levels which is, in my opinion a little late to explain a game function. Not only that, but when I managed to use my powerup, the game did not indicate it was used. There was no sound, nothing to tell me that I just used my powerup.

9. NPCS are vaguely explained on the office select section. You know there are 2 enemies and 1 friendly, but when they are all dressed as office workers, and all seemingly have their own movements- it can be hard to discern who is good and who is bad. It would have been helpful to have some kind of explanation of what office worker types are good and bad so I know who I should be avoiding.

10. The grid system the characters move on, can be tricky to get used to. I was forced to glide into a chatty cathy as the game decided I wanted to continue to move right when I was trying to change directions to the left side. It seems once your original direction is selected, you're forced to move into the next tile until the animation completes.

Anyway, This will most likely be the final time I check in on the game. It's not currently enjoyable for me, but I do have some suggestions for changes I think could make the game better:

- Promotions should give you a "bonus" each time you complete a mission, so that promotions can influence your spending habits, which would help Dave buy items he wants. (this would make promotions useful and would make me care about getting a promotion)
- Allow Dave to have either multiple actions before dinner, or allow Dave to open boxes any day of the week. That would allow for Dave to buy and add more items to his home in a faster amount of time.
- Add a tutorial that goes over EVERY game function such as ALL enemy types as well as friendlies. Let players know how to use their powerups, and what kinds of powerups they could use.

I appreciate the dev response to my first review of this game, but I just don't enjoy the experience of Dave-Man in its current state. Maybe that will change someday, but regardless this game just isn't for me.

Just a quick review.
I haven't completed the story.

The game crashed and uninstalled itself.
So now, I have to reinstall over 60gb despite the prior download still taking up space? Amazing job devs, congrats

EDIT 6/29/20
I reinstalled the game. It works
It also keeps crashing in the forest area.
Can't recommend this game to anyone in its current state. I don't know why it's been having so many issues this far into the story, but I can't recommend a game that won't even let me finish it. Such a waste of my money.

EDIT 6/29/20 (A few hrs later)
I've spent hours looking for a fix, and have attempted a variety of suggestions in both safe and not safe modes; none of which have worked. This issue seems to have been around since the epic store release, so I really don't believe I will be able to complete this game. It's a shame, because the game isn't bad.

EDIT 7/1/20
I was able to complete the level that continued to hard crash by launching in safe mode, with graphics and resolution both turned down. Somehow this worked. After finishing the forest chapter, I was able to play the final chapter on ultra at full resolution with ZERO CRASHES.
I thoroughly enjoyed the game, but I'm leaving my review negative because somehow the devs haven't fixed a clearly bad issue that plagues their forest chapter.
If you can handle the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ they haven't fixed, then you will really enjoy this game. It's the best in their metro franchise. Hopefully their next title: Doesn't release as an epic exclusive and is properly optimized.

I backed DDA on kickstarter, and this is a quick list of pros and cons

PROS
  • It's a "new" version of DD1
  • Better UI
  • Runs better than DD2
  • Fun gameplay
  • Improved overall graphics

CONS
  • Players who played pre release were told their progress would carry over, which wasn't fully true. If you played before release, you could continue to play with your "Legacy" character- the catch is you could ONLY play with other legacy players, meaning any new players were separated from playing with older players thus dividing the community. Backlash about this is deserved.
  • People who bought the game Early access for $40 were upset that the game permanently released at a LOWER price of $30. Even though as a KS backer, the game could be obtained as low as $16, I can see how paying $40 and then finding out the overall price went down would be frustrating.
  • Character Customization UI is incredibly hard to find, and VERY unintuitive. They could have made it much MUCH easier to change your character skins

VERDICT

It's more of DD1 which I think is a pretty great thing. I'd recommend this game to anybody who enjoyed the original. My only real issue is that Chromatic should have been more clear with their legacy players on progression and how their characters would REALLY carry over.

Dead by Daylight
Hide or die, is an asymmetrical multiplayer horror game where the Killer
Hunter has to Kill a group of Survivors who are trying to repair Generators Fuse boxes so that they can power the Exit gates Hatches to escape the Trial Match.

You can level up your characters with the Bloodweb Dark path which is a web that spawns in perks and items you can choose from.

Anyway, Hide or Die is nothing like Dead by daylight, and if anyone says it is; they are wrong!

Edit 6/16/20:
If you're seriously looking for a co op multiplayer survival horror game, please do yourself a favor and buy Dead by Daylight. Hide Or Die was re-released a month and a half ago, and has once again failed to retain a playerbase. If you buy Hide Or Die, the current average player count is 10 in a 24 hr period (and dropping) Dead by daylight has more content, and has an average playerbase of 42,000. I just can't see anyone enjoying this game if there's nobody to play it with.

Edit 7/6/20:
Changed my recommendation to "NO". The servers are mostly empty, and the game is dead (yet again) please don't buy this.

Honestly, this game makes me appreciate Fallout 4 a lot more.

It's been out for nearly 2 years and yet it doesn't lower the base games price on release (Bl3 and Metro Exodus did) as well as it offers a premium subscription for a premium game.

I can't give this a positive review, because the game shouldn't be this expensive for the lack of content it has and the paywall it has to get more content.

I'd say this would be worth it for 20

EDIT 4/21/21

After playing the game again, 3 years after its release- I have a few thoughts.

1. Base building in FO76 is incredibly complicated- the control scheme isn't nearly as fluid as FO4's base building- and honestly with the Desync from bad servers, the building is just over complicated and frustrating in FO76. How did they mess up what FO4 had?

2. You can't adjust your game settings unless you back out of the FO76 session and go to the main menu. This is just a horrible design choice for a plethora of reasons.

3. The Desync. Quests don't trigger properly when I complete objectives such as reading or listening to a holotape, building is painful with how unresponsive it is. (it can take up to 20 seconds for a wall to appear after I attempt to place it. And my internet is really good so I know its not on my end.

4. The servers aren't reliable.

I think that if you want to play FO76, you need to understand that it's not a "Fallout" game like NV, 3 and 4. This is a buggy, unpolished multiplayer MOD that can barely function properly. However, there is something cool buried underneath all the junk on the surface. This game has interesting in-game events and areas you can control. It has interesting lore and locations too. It just suffers from a team of devs that honestly don't seem to know how to make their game stable 3 years in.

Don't buy this game unless you're willing to deal with all of the pitfalls to experience some neat moments here and there.

I haven't played any game in this series before, but when I saw the trailers for it- I knew It would be good.
I'll be honest; I wasn't expecting to chainsaw demons or jump through hell portals when I watched the trailers. I thought I'd be spending more time building my town or fishing, ya know?

Idk, it may not be the game I thought it was, but I gotta admit. Animal Crossing: New Horizons is pretty good so far!

Was Isabelle a pre-order bonus? I can't seem to find her
