Pros:
  • Some of the best sounds design of any video game I've ever played. Soundtrack, sounds effects, and ambient noise are all top notch.
  • Incredibly detailed and massive world zones.
  • I never feel like there isn't something for me to work on. Whether it's a title, pinnacle weapon, or a new exotic. There's always something cool to chase.
  • If there is one thing Bungie is known for - it's gunplay. And Destiny 2 delivers in spades. Everything seems chunky and heavy, and gives you a real sense of impact.
  • Optimization: Honestly one of the best optimized games I've played. Even on some of my friend's potato computers the game looks gorgeous and runs well. Has all of the settings you'd expect a proper PC game to have. Great 21:9 support.

Neutral:
  • An incredibly rich lore, but most of it is unlocked though collectibles scattered throughout the world. I love the direction they're going with Year 3 of Destiny - giving us a more direct storyline that actually seems to be going places. I've very hopeful for the future.
  • Universal Ornaments (allows your gear to look like other gear) - It's a great idea. Unfortunately I don't think they're taking full advantage of the system they currently have. There is currently.. what? 14 sets per class available right now? There are TONS of Year 1 and Year 2 armor sets that have horrible stats that will never be used outside of new players on their first power grind. Give us some way to grind and unlock old sets as universal ornaments.
  • Microtransactions: There needs to be more Universal Ornament, Sparrows, Ships, and Weapon Ornaments that are unlocked though gameplay. I'm fine with having seasonal cosmetics that we pay for, but also have a way of buying them through gameplay (brightdust). I want more things like the Whisper of the Worm ship. While we're on the subject, some of these prices are absurd. $15 for a set of Universal Ornaments is steep. Sparrows and ghost shells are like 6-8$. Tone it down a bit.

Cons:
  • New players are basically just dropped into the world without much of an explanation as to what they should be doing. Very poor new player experience.
  • Sunsetting
