It's been interesting to see the struggle in the game of the Helldivers vs their enemies has been mirrored by the Devs fighting against Sony and at times, members of their own community. Ultimately however, they've proven time and time again to try and take a stand against predatory practices, executive money grabbing and meddling, and, while it has proven difficult, tried to do their best by their players and by the game itself.

This hasn't been perfect. There have been stumbles, and errors, and mistakes. Bad calls and severe underestimation; but lets be logical. Arrowhead is, for them, in unheard of territory. This game exploded when they didn't expect it to, and have as a result been playing catchup ever since, learning as they go. They did a better job than their nearby studio, FatShark with the release of Darktide - whereas Darktide released unfinished and took almost a year to add content of any kind, Helldivers 2 released with a a long list of content ready or close to release that they can drip feed, while having the war effort going on to maintain interest and freshness. That was very well thought out, but there was so much that was clearly not anticipated, and its honestly understandable why.

The PSN thing was a bad, bad stumble. It was not well thought out at all, the ramifications not fully realised. But they acted on it, they used their negotiation power, and they took the side of the players. This has clearly been a very stressful time, and there were a lot of angry people. But they still took the players side, despite their fury, and in the end it worked. That should be recognised, and respected. We need more of that over the interests of stockmarket leeches and executive corpo slime. I hope they keep it up and keep up the good fight, with the community backing them.

The supercredit system, despite being a paid currency, is handled better than most I've seen before. All you need to do is play and earn the currency that way. You don't need to pay extra, but you can if you want to. No FOMO. No obnoxious sales efforts. Reasonable, not insane prices. If that was the standard it'd be a better game world, if such things were inevitable, this is how to do it.

Oh, and the gameplay itself. It's awesome. This game is combat cinema to make Michael Bay die with a smile on his face. Its perfect, no notes, 10 outta 10. Great fun.

Tldr: Publisher makes bad decisions, devs make good decisions, game is great fun. Play it.
