The game at release is a total disaster. The only reason why this game hasn't lost 90% of its playerbase in a day or won't this following week is because of the skins market. Nothing more, nothing less. 100k twitch streamer is opening cases instead of playing the game itself.

Game is beyond broken, many of the customization commands are missing, the HUD is garbage, feedback sent to valve these past 6 months through emails haven't been looked at, the netcode is horrible and makes the game borderline unplayable. Movement and gunplay are gone, dead. No more longjumps, airstrafes, bhop... Spraying is terrible, massive downgrade from CS:GO.
Not to talk about the optimization. It runs terrible. It's not a game ready for release. There has been no significant optimization upgrade so far in the past 6 months. My fps have always been the same, with a beefy computer I can manage 300 fps, but they always felt like 60 fps.
FYI I was invited to the CS2 beta the first day of its release and have been reporting bugs (that were never fixed) ever since, for the past 6 months.

What a flop, Valve!
You're lucky kids are looking at skins instead of gameplay.

1/9/2024:
I am fully convinced that the people left playing this game are 10% "real" people that are completely unaware of CSGO's existence and/or what and how valve is treating cs2, and the remaining all bots.
There's NO way that real people actually play this game and enjoy it, not with how unfinished it is and how fundamentally it'll never be fixed or actually serious enough to be played by competitive players.
