Helldivers 2 is an extremely funny rogue-like game, very good in both graphics and gameplay, even if the gameplay gets repetitive after a while, as long as you play with a group of friends, it remains really funny. In my opinion, the variety of situations you will encounter and the good graphics are still keeping the game alive despite new in-game content is quite poor. The only real problems are the poor server stability that leads to many crashes during games and sometimes you can't even create a party to play with your friends because of a bug. I recommend the game a lot and If they fix these software and stability issues, this game is pretty to close to being flawless.

Alrighty, it's been almost 7 months since this game officially came out, after spending countless hours into the game, i think i'm ready to write a complete review, little disclaimer, right below you will find the short review for those of you that don't have the time or don't care about reading the long one.

Short Review

Apart from the tekken shop which is a scam, and the garbage ranked system, the game is pretty good, i recommend it!

Extensive Review

Graphics: The game is visually stunning, a big upgrade from tekken 7 graphically, characters animations and stages are amazing and unique!

Story: The story mode is pretty simple and entertaining, the gameplay is easy and the plot is straightforward like you would expect from a tekken game (who plays tekken for the story anyway), same thing goes for the character episodes.

Ranked Matches:

With the introduction of the HEAT system, the gameplay rewards an aggressive approach way more that tekken 7 did, landing an heat engager on your opponent allows you to force a NON-SIDESTEPPABLE 50/50 on your opponent, when heat is active, you have access to improved moves and heat also allows you to force a SIDESTEPPABLE (+5 is still steppable but the timing is strict) 50/50 ON-BLOCK, i repeat, on-block, because ON-HIT instead you can heat dash for a GUARANTEED FOLLOW-UP ATTACK or a FULL COMBO (depending on the heat move used, some power crushes are also heat engagers and it's cringe). CHIP DAMAGE was also introduced in the game, which means that some moves deal damage to the opponent even if he blocks (in heat every move deals chip damage on-block instead),you can still recover the health removed by the chip damage by hitting the opponent, even on-block. This mechanic combined with the whole heat system, creates a game in which you are most rewarded only if you play aggressively, this is very different compared to what we had in Tekken 7, in which you had to rely on proper movement, spacing, whiff punishment, block punishment, poke and sidestep etc. The game overall feels much more scrubby and random than it was in tekken 7, which is not a completely negative thing because tekken 7 was a way harder game and you had to play hundreds and hundreds of hours to become at least decent a the game. Tekken 8 is more casual and much easier to pick up and just play, on the other hand the game is much less competitive than the previous one, players with worse fundamentals can steal a match from you just because they accidentally landed an heat engager on you and then you have to guess for your life, especially if they are playing some aggressive rushdown characters that can lock you down with good frames (like dragunov for example), these characters are also extremely favored by the aggressive nature of the new system. When the game was released, i'm not gonna lie, it was a complete clownfiesta, if you played an average character that relied on proper movement and finding the right timing, against aggressive characters with good frames, it was like fighting a dark souls boss for the first time, you get slapped hard and it's not fun, you had to be much better than your opponent to win (unless you played another top-tier character of course), also there is no infinite rematch, after one of the players wins 2 sets, you can't rematch anymore, and you can also choose to not rematch after the first set, this creates a lot of pressure because because you don't have a lot of time to catch up on your opponent tendencies and it's also frustrating when some players beat you one time and then leave because it's a matchup they don't like or they just don't wanna lose or they are trying to farm ranks or whatever.

NOW, AFTER PATCH 1.05 IN JUNE, THINGS HAVE CHANGED A LOT!

Some aspects of the heat system have been adjusted, many top-tier characters have been toned down (they still need nerfs though) and many average characters received buffs, the ranked experience is much more enjoyable now, at least in high ranks, you can't just rush your opponent down without a second thought, you actually have to outmaneuver your opponent to win, it feels much more like tekken 7 (still much easier though). Ranked system must be fixed next, in green ranks you don't lose any points, you just gain them when you win and you won't lose anything, from yellow to purple ranks, you gain much more points than the ones you lose, this means basically that every player is naturally pushed to reach Fujin with almost no effort required, you just need to play enough games and you'll get there. After Fujin, you lose more points than what you gain for a single win or loss and loss streaks are more punishing than how rewarding winstreaks are, this means you NEED to score some winstreaks to climb out of every rank after Fujin and you need to have more than 50% ranked winrate to access Tekken King with that specific character, if you just get 1 win and 1 loss over and over again, you won't be even stuck, your rank will actually slowly drop after a while! This is all very unfair, you are basically boosted until Fujin and after that, it takes only a bad loss streak and your rank will be undone pretty quickly, it is super punishing. Probably this system was made to promote the game at launch by encouraging more beginners to play ranked and to have only the absolute best players in the top ranks (which is not the case anyway because you can just play a top-tier character, doing one set and done with every single player and you can get to max rank). Such system works at game launch but this game has been out since January, they really should fix the ranked system for the new season and maybe reset the ranked ladder to have the players distributed more appropriately within ranks, because right now the current ranks don't represent the true skill of the player in 90% of cases.

NOTE: People that disconnect from ranked on purpose to protect their rank are still not getting punished, very embarrassing.

Quick Matches: Quick matches are good if you want to play casual games, if you want to warm-up and if you want to learn new characters, the problem with quick match is that you shouldn't be matched with players based on your ranked progress, some times you just want to have a chill game or you want to learn a character nice and slow, instead, you have to fight for your life now because you get matched with players that have some character at your highest rank in ranked.

Practice Mode: Practice mode is amazing! Every single aspect of the Tekken 7's practice mode was improved, Bandai Namco also understood that you don't have to pay for the frame data information, thank god. It's a shame that you can't use DLC characters in practice mode without buying them though.

Replay System: Replay system is fantastic, you can review extensively every single online game you play, you can analyze anything, you can even take control of your character in some specific moment of that game and try different approaches to that situation to learn what's the optimal play. You can also download the ghost of a player you have fought before, which is basically a bot that mimics the behavior of that player so it's like you are training against him.

DLC Characters: DLC Characters so far (Lidia,Eddy) are pretty average and quite balanced, this is very good! No, more Tekken 7 Leroy or Akuma and Geese 2D shenanigans. I still don't know why i have to pay for some characters that are supposed to be in the base game already, if they continue to release balanced DLC characters i'm ok to pay though.

There is still a lot to improve in the game but after patch 1.05, i'm hopeful that the developers will deal with the game issues and it will be even better, Tekken 8 has the potential to surpass Tekken 7 in almost every aspect if they take care of it. I recommend this game a lot, mostly for casual players though, i recommend it for competitive players too but in the future, i think we are getting there soon.

Well, what can i say about the ever-green Tekken. I have always been a Tekken enthusiast since i was a child and In my opinon Tekken 7 is overall a pretty solid and funny game, with his Pros and his Cons. Although it is a very complex game if you wanna become very good at it, you can still have a lot of fun even if you are a very beginner at fighting games, at least if you play offline. As a fan , i can tell that the story is pretty entertaining, the gameplay is always pretty good and has been updated with many features never seen in previous tekken games and of course, a lot of new characters have been introduced alongside the old iconic ones. For the online part, Tekken 7 is a very complex and challenging game, it requires a lot of dedication, practice and experience to become really good at it, this game always gives to the player something to learn and having fun with. I highly recommend this game to all passionate players that love to prove their skill, compete with others and test themselves, in terms of skill and dedication required, there's a big difference between offline mode and online mode, but the offline game it is nonetheless very funny and entertaining. I recommend the game even to the players that simply want to chill and relax, since the offline gameplay is pretty solid too.
