I can't even really render in words how amazing this game is.
Super Metroid is my personal favorite game for subjective and objective reasons.
And this is one of the best Metroidvania I've played in a long time.
Comparing it to Guacamelee or even Axiom Verge, Ori is just a blast of the past with an heavy but very appreciated modern touch in the art style, animations and gameplay.

The art style is simply charming. And pretty dark at the same time. It's really beautiful.
The movements animations of Ori as every other animations are just wonderfully done.
I was in awe when I realised that the background can be affected by your movements.
As simple as it is, It's details like that which makes the game really immersive.

The gameplay is fun, fast and precise.
You become more and more powerful and you can clearly feel it.
But the challenge often lies in the plateforming aspect of the game.

The game is not too hard in itself but is still challenging.
There's the OHK mode that can make it a real and hardcore challenge.
As there is an easy mode for people who wants to play more casualy.

The sound effects are enjoyable to the ear.
Wind, water flowing, hot platforms freezing, the attacks...
It's great and effective.

I didn't notice the music/soundtrack though. But that can be a good thing.
It means that it's not overly annoying and fits in the background while playing.
(I'm usually watching videos over most games I play though. Which is a thing.)

Some annoyances I can point out is that some enemies can be somewhat of an hassle.
Some attack positionings can lead up to frustrating situations where you feel that it's unavoidable without retreating from the "combat area" of some enemies. Or being attacked by bird while climbing walls which makes it so that you never know if you'll get targeted and hit or you'll be able to dodge it. This leads to level designs that can feel somewhat off sometimes, ending up in spikes when you want to explore unseen zones.

Still, the Bash Power-Up makes it more engaging and personal technics can be developped to be able to pull off fast moves. Other mechanics also balances some annoyances with the enemies, I'm mainly thinking about the Stomp one.

ANYWAY!

It's totally worth the price. In sale or not.
Go get it! It's a must!
