overall liked this game but it has a plethora of flaws

- fun monsters but generally not challenging - most difficult fight is from BASE GAME -extremoth
- annoying monster ai, where they sometimes waste time for minutes on end
- expansion DLC brought in alot of new mechanics and rebalances (even for base game), but much of base game was left unbalanced and DLC is still absurdly unbalanced in certain areas i.e. spread HBG
- annoying forced mechanics devs refuses to rework or even fix
- no way to call for palico's gadgets without sheathing weapons which greatly limits their usefulness and when you call them over to unstun you they instead waste time or get you hit/killed. even sheathing and calling for gadgets can and often will fail
- weapons are fun and varied but many need buffs/rework that arent just flat attack increases or very situational mechanics
- plethora of useless skills, weapons and armour pieces that will almost never be used/be genuinely useful
- poor online - cannot rejoin quests if you dc even though expedition mode (freeroam) allows it, and host dc kicks all players - a problem since base game but still not fixed. closest fix is auto down/upscaling monster difficulty
- no pause for solo or offline play
- mediocre port, went down to '0.5' fps occasionally after IB was released. never once hit below 25 in base world
- capcom's modding hate b0ner - makes most unusable every update (all mods except cosmetic only are affected)
- poor endgame - just grind for some materials that you can get in spades or for skill decorations that are absurdly difficult to get, and further diluted by including bad/mediocre decorations in the drop rate pool
- grindy as hell with many unjustifiably poor droprates and can only be bearable with mods unless you have +2k hrs to spare
- 75% of the monsters in base game you would never have to fight outside of quests, but thats been improved to 30-40% with the new endgame system in Iceborne (monster materials for weapon upgrades). however, many of the endgame weapons require very specific monsters to fight, so again, 75% are not/rarely needed to be fought, ties into next point
- each new update undermines/makes entirely redundant the content from the base expansion DLC - i.e. new meta weapons that are far stronger than previous meta (which isnt a problem) but are available faaaaar eariler and easier - shortly after story is finished (relatively early into the game). many of these base DLC weapons needed other monsters materials for the upgrades with the endgame system but are simply barely relevant and so the respective monsters rarely need to be fought
could have been solved simply by level locking the new monsters. literally. thats it.
- unjustifiably large game size unless expansion DLC is also purchased

i have barely played this game in months bc of how boring its become.
sieges are only fun for a while before they get repetitive and you and your friends have little interest in farming the loot pinata for a dozenth time, with the same fight each time, to get the one weapon you need or the 100th time just to fully upgrade the ones you use.
challenging monsters forcing you to git gud are few and far between. its low effort content tbh, even if its free.
i cant be bothered getting the decorations as ive farmed for so long and never received the ones im interested in. instead its been "fairly useful but ill rarely use" to those that are "absolute hot garbage", or have had in spades since basegame.
i have enough monster parts for augments (other half of endgame) as it gives you them by the bucketload, except for the more important one where you need to farm 1 specific quest again and again and again and again and again before you lose your mind because you only receive 1 each quest, and if youre lucky your teammates receive 2. but not you. fick you.

its ever so tiresome
