While I can admit I am an Alien superfan, so I might be a little bias towards this game. I can 100% say this is a great game, its the game all of us superfans have been wanting for years. The pc version is incrediably optomized, which is something that is quickly becoming rarer and rarer this days. It scales awesomly with SLI/Crossfire and mutlicore processors. I am running it on 2-270x GPUs and a highly overclocked 8350 8 core processor. My frames are up into the hundreds easily completly maxed out with ultra settings and everything cranked up.

On to the gameplay side of things,

Graphics
This game is stunning. The atmosphere is just breathtaking, the volumetric fog and beautiful lighting takes the cake. The attention to detail is wonderful. You really feel like you are in the Alien universe, it all combines together to draw you in and take hold of you. There are a few flat textures here and there, a few small things like pictues in lockers and wall paneling are low rez in some areas, but if you don't sweat the small stuff you will be completly ingulfed.

Sound
This game's sound design may be some of the best in years. The creepy ambient soundtrack does wonders for imersion. Hearing the alien stomp around somewhere near you and you don't know where from is intense. The game's musical score is heavily based off of the first film (which is a given) but it does it well and uses it to great effect at the best moments. Hearing the Alien hiss and snarl as it hunts you is pretty frighting, hearing its heavy thuds as it disspears into the vent system is enough to make you want to stay in hiding as long as you can.
One negitive I can say is the voice acting isn't the best. While it is not anywhere close to being horriable, some of the character's voice's fall flat and emotionless. The main character, Amanda flip flops between great and kinda meh. There are a few accents for some of the characters, which all of them sound authenic not just someone tyring their best to put on a english, or scottish accent. But then again like I said, some character's fall flat. Also for some reason, lip synching isn't all that great. I have a feeling it is because the pre rendered cutscenes run at 30 fps while the game is at 60 (or whatever you are playing it at) so its a jarring difference when it comes up.

Gameplay
This is not Coloinal Marines. It is nothing like it at all. This game is a survial horror/stealth game. You can not kill the Alien, don't even go anywhere near it. If it sees you, thats pretty much it. Instadeath if it gets ahold of you. You will spend most of you're time hiding from anything and everything. There are human surviors that will not hesitate to gun you down. You can try to fight them if you wish, but the smarter ideal is to use one of the crafted items such as the noise maker or flare to lure the alien to them and let the alien do the dirty work for you, monster infighting is something I have always loved in games and it plays into the game very well here. You will loot items and parts to create new gear and items to help you survive such as the nosie maker which emits a lound static sound or healthpacks for well you know, healing yourself. That means there is no regenerating health which has become the annoying norm in modern games. While speaking about bad modern game design. the popular tend now is to have the game autosave for you. That is not the case in Alien Isolation. This game features good old manual saves. You can find phone boxes on the wall to use for saving. While you use them, you can still be killed for a few seconds so its smart ot make sure you are not in hostile terriotry while trying to save. There are no checkpoints if you dont save and get killed guess what? You are going back to you're last save even if its 2 hours from where you were at. Last but not least, the Alien AI is pretty dang good from what I expected. A few review sites like IGN whined and cried about it "being frustrating" but what that means is they were boo hooing because they couldn't rush through the game on easy and wanted it to cater to their casual taste. The AI is random and not scripted, and I have tested this out myself. THIS IS A GOOD THING it really drives home the survial horror feeling. Wondering what the Alien is going to do at anytime is nerve racking and quite a few times it surprised me from vents or out of nowhere.

*Correction I believe there are autosaves, I can not confirm this but I have noticed the same icon appearing here and there not sure what it is, but I always just load from my manual saves*

Overall, Alien Isolation is a game I can fully reccomend to anyone if they are currently on the fence about it. Its got great graphics, it is really well optomized and will run great on a large specturm of systems. Its sound design is fantastic, and the gameplay is a breath of fresh air for the boring and tired troupe of space marines vs xenos ect. This game is estimated to be 15-20 hours long. I am not sure if that accounts for the amount of deaths (you will suffer many this is not some casual persudo stealth jog like dishonored) or not. Again when IGN and a few other review sites whined and cried about it being too long, think about it, they get the game for free and don't have to spend money on it of course they don't care about how long it is. But as it is, its still making me enjoy playing it so far 10 hours in. I haven't felt bored or anything though you're milage may vary.

Other things to note are yes, a lot of the game has you doing things like get from point A to point B and back agin, press this switch, use this computer ect. Fetch quest over all is a big part of the game, traveling through the station doing those fetch quest while dealing with the Alien really is a intense experience and you won't even notice things like that
