My former favorite isometric rpg of all time (Pathfinder: Kingmaker) has finally had it's throne taken by it's sequel Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, but it could still use a little time in the oven to reach perfection.

The Good:

+ A story that doesn't hold back, it throws you right into the thick of things, and if you want to figure out what's going on in this rollercoaster of a story then you better put on your reading glasses and get invested. It's well worth the time, I thoroughly enjoyed most of the universal lore and the small tie ins to it's prequel.

+ Improvements on the Combat system + Turn system included this time

+ Mythic Paths = Great replay potential, the amount of roleplay paths you miss by going a certain path in the beginning only drives your curiousity further and further as the story goes along and you wonder just how differently the game would have gone if you picked becoming an all consuming swarm over an angel of justice.

+ Item Diversity: I loved the vast amount of armor and weapons in this game, some of which tempt you to want to do another playthrough just to use it (Orc Doubleaxe, yes please). The lore that some of these weapons and shields come with really shines, and helps you feel that much more immersed in the world.

+ Companion Diversity and Stories: Absolutely perfect job, so many companions and individual paths you can take with who you pick, and what role they play in the story. Each of the companions has a story that are genuinely intriguing and force you to make brutal decisions regarding their fate.

The Bad:

- The Crusade System: Underbaked, underutilized and really should have just been left out until they could put it in the game properly. This is by far my biggest complaint of the game, using your kingdom armies to fight other demon armies is boring, confusing, at times a grind-fest, unbalanced (just get a mage general and spam fireball), and really just feels like they rushed it two weeks out before the release. The framework for something good is certainly there, it just shouldn't have been released in this state.

Overall: 9.5/10, a near perfect game with only one minor stain (the crusade system).
