To preface, I have never played a 9th Dawn game before (I have 9th Dawn III, but barely touched it), so I didn't really know what I was in for or how the game worked. It's a simple ARPG that does a lot of things well and some things not so well.

The combat is very easy as it is just click towards where the enemies are and you do damage. In my playthrough, I didn't try any spells, but from what the pets cast, which I am assuming are just spells the player character can cast, they also seem easy to use as well. Combat did get very repetitive as sometimes I would just start running past enemies to get to the objective because I was in the best gear, already max level, and so were my pets.

I liked the addition of the Deck Rock mini-game, which is essentially Slay the Spire, however, I didn't really enjoying the fishing mini-game, which was Fishing Survivors(Vampire Survivors). I wish there was an option to fish a different way, but I am sure some people enjoyed it.

The world was fun to explore and I loved all the dungeons and side quests. The dialogue was witty and I was always curious to what the next NPC would say.

I'm not an achievement kind of person, but some of them here are insane and will take a bit of time, but I am assuming that's how all the 9th Dawn games have been, so, if that is your cup of tea, all the power to ya.

I also played 9th Dawn Remake on my Steam Deck multiple times and had no problems with it, it ran perfectly.

Overall, I am really glad I tried 9th Dawn and I enjoyed my time spent on it and learning how the game works. I fully recommend.
