You've read the reviews about this game and they're all true. This is essentially action games boiled down into a simple two button beat'em up; an on-rails brawler as the game says. It borrows the old XiaoXiao stickman kung fu aesthetic from years past and turns the gameplay into a simple button slamming (but not mashing) experience.

You're in the middle of the screen - enemies at you from the left and right. When they get within "range", your left mouse button/X button hits enemies on your left, and your right mouse button hits enemies on your right. You'll kill them in one hit, but you'll do crazy looking moves to do so - stuff you'd see out of old 80s/90s kung fu films.

Simple concept, right? Most enemies go down in one hit and every hit you're rewarded with an awesome looking animation.

But it doesn't stop there. The game takes this concept and runs as far and as fast as it can with it. Later enemies will require multiple hits to kill. Others require you to engage in a one on one fight in the middle of the level, and some enemies require you to hit them in a 2-4 button sequence of left and right presses. Suddenly, that simple "hit the button to kill an enemy" thing starts to get some bit of depth.

They add to this by letting you use weapons on your enemies: from bombs to bows, swords, spiked clubs, spears, etc. These weapons increase your range, allowing you to hit the button earlier when an enemy is charging at you, and you can even throw them at enemies if the conditions are right. Some of them kill in one hit, allowing you to take down those pesky multihit enemies that I described above.

But that's not all, you can even unlock skills that allow you to initiate special attacks: do a screen clearing earthquake move, slow down time, freeze enemies in their tracks, and so on.

Combine this simple yet incredibly deep gameplay with dozens of levels to play through, three difficulty modes, three survival modes, tons of unlocks, and a parody of the traditional Chinese kung fu flick, and you get an awesome, addicting, and pulse pounding game.

Seriously, for $5, you can't go wrong. And if you're reading this review during a Steam sale? This game is a no brainer. GET THIS. You won't be sorry.
