Masterpiece. If there ever was a perfect excuse to buy into VR this is it, I can't wait for what's to come! Also if you want to introduce someone to VR this game is a great option, everything just works and feels great from the minute you first launch it. The gameplay stunning and the story is simultaneously cheeky, gripping and thrilling. What a great setup for the future of HL.

Some criticism: The game is not nearly as challenging as I would have liked, on hard maybe I got killed once or twice. It's relatively easy to master and once you get the laser sight for the pistol the fights become sort of trivial. I wish they kept the AI similar to HL2:EP2 where they would charge and flank you guns blazing, but I understand why they didn't, it would probably overwhelm you in VR and they wouldn't want to scare people away from such an infant sector of the industry. I hope there is a harder mode in future HL games though, please kill me more. Another minor grievance that I have with the game is the puzzles, they're sort of meh. I remember the first time I had to put a few brick on a board to progress the level in HL2, that blew my nuts off, it was innovative and awesome. Moving a few holograms around just pales in, I don't think it inspires any actual problem solving or requires any thinking outside the box. Boneworks does a much better job with it's puzzles imho. The hologram puzzles are a small enough part of the game that they don't detract from it significantly.

Side note: This was the first game I tried smooth locomotion on, the first play session I lasted about 30min and got completely nauseous. Second play session I lasted about 1.5h and had to stop. Third time I was fine for much longer and from the fourth on I've been able to withstand smooth locomotion with no ill effects indefinitely. I've heard of people who get nauseous from first person flat screen games so your mileage may vary, but pace yourself and get used to it, it's well worth the effort, smooth locomotion is epic.

TLDR: The game is an awesome story driven masterpiece that also features breathtaking visuals and VR gunfights. I wish it was harder and that the puzzles were "better". Mind that there still are awesome puzzles in the game, such as the entire Jeff section, I'm only referring to the hologram puzzles when I offer any sort of criticism. Must play, perfect for your first VR game as well as your nth VR game, epic if you love HL. Instant classic.
