One of the few times the ingame character models look good. Wish I had more shots of Yuri like this.

This ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ furry garbage plagued me for 3 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hours. Three. THREE HOURS

In all seriousness. I was requested to play this game by a "good friend". My actual review of this game is skewed. I feel like this game tried really hard to shoot for a myriad of game homages. I could feel the obvious Sonic nods, including the Mega Man ones, and somehow Mario 64? (They used a lot of Mario 64 sound effects, I know they're free to everyone evidently but they remind me of Mario 64 more than anything)

The platforming is doodoo ass garbage. To be plain and simple with you. Why do I say this in such a childish manner? Because 8/9 levels thrust you into enemies or obstacles that 'will' damage you if you play this game like a Sonic game. If you go for speed, you will be hit almost guaranteed. In most cases even if you tried to play safe you were punished by having your ♥♥♥♥ (Actually your womanly parts as it were) just SMASHED by some enemy that was like "HEY WHAT'S UP I'M AN OBSTACLE AND I EXIST".

If the game didn't try so hard to combine Sonic style platforming with difficult enemies and trap placement it would have felt more enjoyable to run through these levels.

On top of that gripe, some enemies seem like they strongly required Lilac's special attack to safely dispatch them. An attack that has a timed reload. This creates a weird "Attack...Pause...Attack...Pause" detachmenet from the combat. Which slashes away any of the momentum like a ♥♥♥♥ eating Genji on the enemy team. This breaks the immersion and the pacing of the game in ways that I feel wasn't their intent.

The only interesting aspect of this game is actually the voice acting. Dawn Michelle Bennett and Amanda Lott voiced their characters well, as did the rest of the cast. I had some nitpicks such as voice quality for certain characters, but what can you do about that in all honesty? And if I'm being frank, Milla, a character you unlock some-♥♥♥♥♥♥♥-where has a more interesting gameplay style that better fits the overall design of the game.

My greatest concern with this game is the difficulty, wait, ahem, "dIFFIcULTY" of certain bosses. Very few bosses in this game actually telegraph their attacks, leaving you to guess your attack and work around them, if you can. You're often going to be punished for going in even when you know you were safe, or thought you were. Serpentine is a fantastic example of this failure to telegraph. He will jump, and then choose an attack to use against you. One of those are safe, two of those are definitely not, and yet you have to bridge the gap and attack him no matter what he does. So if he uses the flamethrower, you're punished. And if he uses his purple shot, if you're me, you get 9,000 purple bullets shot up your colon until you explode into a cloud of feathers.

The most ENGAGING boss fight is simply the last one, not the first two doodoo garbage wussy fights before him, the actual last fight with his Sigma ass cape. He's the ONLY boss in the game whom you can fight at 'his' level. You can MATCH his attacks, and get in on him. It was an even fight and actually really fun and I personally wished more bosses were like this. I feel like this games combat would have lent well to you taking risks against your bosses and being matched against them, rather than punished even if you succeeded in dealing damage.

All in all, I was forced to play this game for 3 hours against my will and I just want to go home. But was charmed by what I experienced and Milla herself as a character. But no matter how much charm this game may have, the level design is an utter mess and leaves a lot to be desired. There isn't a single level that doesn't leave me feeling cheated out of damage, a life, or my sanity. The bosses failed to impress until the climax of the game, which ultimately makes it a big letdown. I recognize that people love this game, and I certainly don't hate this game.

But you have to be a patient Sonic player to enjoy this one. Not a mad-cap speedy loser like myself. Power to you if you enjoy this game.

(Thanks to those who actually read past my initial sentence.)
