This is a very well made, polished and engaging interactive movie type game, set in the near future where you play as three human-like artificial intelligence's called Androids. The individual stories involved are well written and thought provoking, where the AIs become sentient and have to make their own choices as their "state of being" changes.

There are games where choices matter *sort of*, and then there are the rare games like this where your choices absolutely matter. Dramatic scenes in the story where actions are involved can get your character killed if you f*ck it up, and the story will keep moving on with that certain death applying to the story. There are a ton of endings and combinations of paths, and it really is cool to know that your ending is almost unique to you. (Apparently I got one ending where 0-1% of the playerbase only got? I dont know if that is accurate or not lol).

I held off on this game for so long because of the negative press it got. Now I worked up the resolve to play it.
So.... Off the bat, I'll throw in the two things that holds this game back from being amazing:

First are the bugs. This game has so many pop ins, glitches, clipping issues, weird ass animations, etc. etc., you name it, its got it. I had to restart my game or reload previous saves like 10 times because of various buggy reasons.
The second thing....is that the OG Mass Effect trilogy has raised the bar SO INSANELY HIGH, that it honestly makes this game look a little bad.

And that's all I got on negatives. Andromeda knocks it out of the park with its gameplay and visuals. The narrative plays out in a sort of coming-of-age fashion too, which we haven't really seen before. You take on Ryder, a young pioneer who is suddenly thrown into a position of leadership and quickly has to learn the ropes of what it means to be a Pathfinder in a new galaxy. He/she isn't Shepard, and doesn't pretend to be Shepard. And that's not a bad thing. ME is all about character development, and Andromeda doesn't disappoint in the slightest.
The bad press this game got was overblown as HELL, and that is indisputable. Kiss my ass if you disagree.

...Oh, and the multiplayer/APEX co-op missions are actually pretty fun.

Going nearly a decade back in time, reliving this trilogy still holds onto its charm. It doesn't hold a candle to the first time I played it, which totally f*cking blew me away back then.... But I still consider this to be the absolute apex and gold standard for sci-fi games. If you never played this trilogy, you missed out. But better late than never.

Get it. Play it. And cherish every moment.

One of the greatest strategy games of all time, and in the words of Angry Joe................
"YOU DONE F*CKED IT UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Everything that worked perfectly in the original was tampered with, and the areas that needed improvement upon was untouched or made worse.

The only thing I can say that was improved is the graphics (obviously) and the frame rates.... But the positives end right then and there.

Here is a nice bulletin list organized for you all to follow:

- Searching and hosting matches on multiplayer is broken. Desyncs and disconnections happen ad nauseum. I managed to finish three 5-10 minute matches in a span of 4 hours. That's 3.5 hours of me staring at the cluttered lobby.

- Speaking of the multiplayer lobbies, they decided to remove the public hub/main lobby chat due to the potential of offensive words being spoken.... So.... imagine being so arrogant, so tyrannical, so controlling of a developer, you decided to just strip one of Rome 1's core features away from the player base......Because of the fear of making someone offended. Just blows my mind--THIS ALONE is worth getting a refund over. Go woke, go broke, you jacka*ses.

- The AI here compared to the AI in the original Rome: The difference is negligible. There is practically zero difference on the AI behavior, some people even seem to think the AI got even worse than before.

- THE PATH-FINDING PROBLEM STILL EXISTS AFTER 16 YEARS! LOL

- The user interface......... Oh my god the UI......... What an utter disaster. You certainly don't have to go far to find the numerous opinions everyone had on this subject... A complete lack of any organization for the layout. It's set up like a cheap tablet game that you would buy for your 6 year old child. Not only that, but they don't give us the choice to restore the original UI, and they stripped the ability to rebind important keys like guard mode, or fire at will! Alt + 5? How about the F key for FIRE at will? What makes more sense to you? WHAT WERE THEY THINKING??! Modern gaming my a*s, are you KIDDING ME??

- The broken state of the gameplay is quite interesting too. I find myself having to spam keys and buttons for a unit to act. I notice there is more delay to the unit's movements. It's like I'm playing Medieval 2.

- The replays are showing different outcomes. Imagine getting an awesome decisive victory battle against another player, only to watch it and watch it play out in a completely different way. Yeah, it's a buzz kill.

I could go on, and on, and on. But I am tired of typing, and I'll assume this summary covers a majority of the issues. Don't just read my review though, you'll find other people reporting crap that is broken that I haven't mentioned.
So, 40 gigs for this? No, stick with the 4 gigs of the original.

This is a disgrace, and they have A LOT of work and patching to do to make me even consider forgiving them for robbing me. (Refund was denied, just so you idiotic TW apologists and a*skissers are tracking).

Seventy hours for an 84% complete single player playthrough.
Probably a ton more with online multiplayer as I have been playing some of it.
The gameplay, story and graphics are all solid. Tons of dialogue, lots of NPC scenarios, and customization of horses, weapons, and clothing and hairstyles.
There are weird quirks where you feel like your horse is on rails and doesn't respond to you and then runs into a tree or off a cliff.
There were also times where, amidst the entire clusterf*ck of PC controls and finicky UI, I accidentally murdered people when I didn't intend to. Maybe It's just old age, idk lol.

Rome Total War still remains my favorite out of the series.........but holy Jesus does this game come close.
Without any sort of modifications, the campaign AI has been nothing but great. Diplomacy has been expanded in so many ways and the AI legitimately holds its own. Alliances can stay firm for decades, I haven't seen suicidal armies, I haven't seen broken trade deals or broken ceasefires one turn later..... Or too many dumb decisions in general when it has come to the AI's decision making. The AI in battle is probably the best I have ever seen it too (again, this is playing the vanilla/unmodified version). I was skeptical of the newer "Romanticized" turn the Total War series has been steering into, where commanders and leaders all have borderline mythical powers and buffs, but I really enjoy it. It just fits the Three Kingdoms period. To wrap up: This game is nothing short of amazing and was worth every penny. I could only imagine how much more intense it can get with mods.

Still remains an outrageously fun shooter. Along with the borderline slapstick humor this game possesses it's just absolutely hilarious at times too.

Every patch is making this game more and more casual and more and more appealing to *put lightly* jiggle peaking, monster drinking, Adderall addicted, f*ckboi kiddies and streamers.

The pistol sway nerf, the 5 second bounty timer change, the astronomical amount of camping this community has encouraged (If you go for the bounty, you are playing the game wrong to the majority of this community now) and the game mechanics that promote said camping, and now--the recent questionable amount of times where I am getting walled through concealment and houses....with a Sharps.... in the head....

So now I have come to the conclusion that the integrity of the game has been compromised to a large degree. What left is there? Nothing really. It has turned into a dime-a-dozen BR shooter, and it will continue descending into that. Oh yeah..... the stuttering I have always had is still there...and the lagging teleports...
