Crime Scene Cleaner is, surprisingly, a crime scene cleaning simulator. If you always liked the cleaning aspect of House Flipper but thought to yourself, what this really needs are a few dead bodies and a lot of blood splatter, then what is wrong with you? You'll definitely enjoy this game, though.

Gameplay

You are send to clean up murder scenes. This involves removing the bodies, collect the trash, clean up all blood splatter, collect any evidence, and put everything back in order.
You have access to a power washer, a mob, and a sponge for different types of stains. Sponges are obviously better suited for more delicate work, while the power washer is good to treat larger free areas, walls, and ceilings. Yes, ceilings. This game takes it blood splattering seriously.

In addition, you can find music cassettes that you can listen to in-game, and each location has at least a couple of secrets for you to find. You can also steal money and valuables as extra payment.

Your income is turned into points for buying upgrades: For example, UV lamps that make it easier to see blood splatter, detergents for more efficient cleaning, a bigger tank for your power washer, and efficiency upgrades for all your tools.

Also, you have a dog, and you can pet the dog. He's a good boy! A+

Story

Yes. I'll let you experience it for yourself. It's pretty minimal but completely sufficient. There's even some surprisingly subtle environmental storytelling and humor.

Blood

A lot.

But there isn't anything too gruesome. No entrails to collect, no seperated body parts. The bodies itself are not that realistic, either. Keyword: Ragdoll physics.

The crime scenes suggest serious violence. Trigger warning: At least one suicide, torture, hint at a serial killer who kidnaps and murders women.

Other stuff

The developers are currently planning a free extension with different challenge modes and at least one additional crime scene.
The soundtrack is excellent, it ranges from classical music over folk, rock, hip hop, and alternative. According to the developers, you will be able to buy it at a later time.

TL;DR

Who knew it could be so chill to clean up after psychopathic killers? If you just want to relax for a couple of hours doing virtual chores, this is a must-have game. It's disturbingly satisfying to turn a literal blood bath back into a nice apartment, and putting the last chair back into its place.
A bit about me!
I love playing adventure games since way back when ten-year-old adventure games bought used on Ebay were the only games my old laptop would run without incinerating. Nowadays, I play a wide variety of games, my favorite genres are exploration/survival, colony sims, strategy, time/resource management, RPGs, and basically everything that lets me experience a compelling story.

Occasionally, I write too long reviews about games I enjoyed, and sometimes didn't enjoy, and I like reading other people's reviews, too! If that's something that interests you, send me a friend request!
