After witnessing the violence and moral decay around him, Arthur begins to question the life of crime he has led with the Van der Linde gang. During his travels, he encounters a Muslim scholar who introduces him to the principles of Islam—compassion, discipline, and repentance. Arthur finds solace in prayer, begins fasting, and adopts a more reflective lifestyle, seeking redemption through faith. His transformation shifts his goals, focusing on helping others, making amends for his past, and living by the values of justice and peace as he navigates the gang's collapse. This newfound faith gives him a sense of purpose and serenity, changing how he interacts with John, Sadie, and others, as he strives to leave a positive legacy before his eventual departure from the gang.

Arthur’s newfound faith inspires him to try to bring a sense of order and morality to the gang. He shares these teachings with Dutch Van der Linde, hoping to steer him away from his increasingly erratic and violent behavior. Dutch, though skeptical at first, becomes captivated by Arthur’s conviction and adopts aspects of the faith, even taking on the name Ishmal Van der Linde. Under this new identity, Dutch tries to justify his leadership and their actions as being part of a higher, righteous cause, though Arthur remains conflicted about Dutch’s true intentions.

As Arthur’s health deteriorates, his commitment to Islam grows stronger. He seeks to right his wrongs, helping John escape with his family and warning others of the gang’s impending doom. Despite Dutch—now Ishmal—continuing to manipulate those around him, Arthur remains focused on finding personal redemption through his faith, praying for forgiveness and striving to leave the world a better place before his illness claims him.
