Under this new identity, Dutch tries to justify his leadership and their actions as being part of a higher, righteous cause, though Arthur remains conflicted about Dutch’s true intentions.

As Arthur’s health deteriorates, his commitment to Islam grows stronger. He seeks to right his wrongs, helping John escape with his family and warning others of the gang’s impending doom. Despite Dutch—now Ishmal—continuing to manipulate those around him, Arthur remains focused on finding personal redemption through his faith, praying for forgiveness and striving to leave the world a better place before his illness claims him.
