Early Access Review
Fun, but the Early Access definetly still is early. While it's definetly playable, it's unbalanced as all hell.
Idk if I'm doing something wrong but I could never win a war with the AI being able to field multiple 30-squad batallions while I barely scrounge by with one, constantly trying to recover losses from an everlasting onslaught. The waiting times also have me just getting a coffee inbetween as there is basically nothing happening half the time.
The fighting is fun, altough the AI definetly still needs a ton of work. As a point of reference, they are currently as reliable as the ARMA-AI, and that's definetly not a compliment.
TC:R shows a lot of promise, and the dev ain't a big studio, so let this just be a buyers beware: It is not finished YET. Do with that as you please.

So, technically, at first glance, Sins of a Solar Empire II just screams "EA Sports". Y'know, take a look at it, take a look at the endstate of Sins I, where even are the differences, this is basically just the same game with minor touch-ups.

That's where they getcha tho. Yes, Ironclad did technically just make Sins 1 again, but instead of going the lazy route, they more or less "refined" the whole package, removing all the negatives, touching up all the aged stuff and adding some nice QoL-features.

So why should you buy this game then, and not Sins I? Well, Sins I was excellent, but also old. It chugged and chuffed along, and while it still looks good and plays decent, you definetly notice the age. Sins II on the other hand runs buttery smooth. Seriously, even some more dated hardware can run this thing with a massive map and ten players no problem. You also get some new expansions down the road, hopefully some new factions, and, most importantly, eventually updates to all of your favorite Sins I-mods like f.e. Star Trek Armada.

So yea, all in all, I definetly think that calling Sins II "Sins I Refined" is a great compliment to give. It's a net-positive next step for the series and will definetly catch both old and new fans.

Nah y'all are just either miserable or insufferable people.
Simple, Dawntrail is a 5/10. It's okay.
The Story is okay in the first half, definetly looses me in the second.
The dungeons and trials are good to great.
Wuk Lamat is fine, and some of y'all need to realize that the VA is not responsible for the Voice Directions and Character Writing department ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, ESPECIALLY when half of the NPCs this expac have weird sound issues or wonky line deliveries.
Honestly, at this point, don't trust the reviews, don't read forums or reddit, just play the damn thing yourself in isolation and make your own picture.

I got a PS5.
I also got a PSN-account.
Know what I don't have? A modicum of either respect nor sympathy for the bottomless greed of shareholders. Sony can shove their ♥♥♥♥♥♥ backtracking where the sun don't shine for all I care.

It's a good thing that both developers and the community have a spine and integrity, because this win against SONY was a group effort.Would've been a shame otherwise anyway, seeing how HD2 is one of the best coop shooters of the recent years.

HOWEVER, the game is still not being sold in a lot of countries due to SONY interference. So, for all intents and purposes, it would be the morally wrong choice to endorse this behavior and recommend any SONY-published games on PC, especially when seeing that they are set to continue this anti-consumer-bs.

Don't buy this game here, your money will go directly to a board full of bloodsuckers that kicked out the original creators and stole the Disco Elysium IP a long time ago and are hellbent on nickel-and-dime'ing you in the future.

Sadly, as Al Yankovic once said, there is VPN (Very Probably No) way to get this game legally otherwise. And while y'all might have a TORRENT of questions about the why and how ZA/UM stole DE from the original creators, there are a good amount of well produced and researched videos on youtube about exactly this.

Edit 26.04.2024

It's dead.
The new CEO said that "their (Starbreeze) goal is to have three simultaneous live-service games running".
Payday 3 was DOA and will stay that way. Real shame, but it is what it is.

Edit:
As expected, Larian quickly dished out a hot"fix", disabling cross-saving on the game. It ain't a definitive fix, but at least it'll hopefully prevent more issues with people loosing hours of playtime for now.
To also add, I throughly enjoy this game and recommend it highly. Others can say it better, but this game is a clear prime candidate for the GOTY title this year. I'd still suggest for people to wait at least a week until the first patch has hopefully been rolled out, but it's definetly worth the price tag.
Ps: Thanks for the clown awards, imma buy myself something nice with the points while knowing this review helped people be aware of the issues currently in the game :3c

Original Review:
This is just a temporary thumbs down, but it is a necessary one.
BG3 CURRENTLY HAS A BUG THAT PREVENTS ANY KIND OF AUTO- OR MANUAL SAVING.
A good chunk of people have this problem, and everyone should be warned that right now, it is possible to lose all your progress because you didn't realize that this bug was active.
I'm sure a hotfix tomorrow will fix this problem, but until then, I'd recommend for people to either watch out for this bug or delay their purchase entirely for a couple of days. Y'all really don't need to do as I did and lose several hours of progress because of this.

Fans are Ultrawaiting for the gay sex update so hard they manifested Gianni into a VR Furry NSFW game.

10/10 would watch Max0r lose his mind again.

Sure, we can talk, like everyone else, about the excellent soundtrack, the excellent artstyle, the excellent enemy-design, the excellent humor (like, actual humor, not the nervegrating quippy Santa Monica/Marvel-"humor"), the excellent gameplay. It's an excellent game 10/10 please more shorter, tighter, non-bloated, simply fun games for 30€.

But I'm simpler. I got a mean redheaded scottish Lady with an even meaner right hook. More games should have that.

Anyway, go buy the game. Better investment than your hundreth open world game for sure.
