If you want to become a pro, you are too late. You can't compete with ten years of experience. By the time you get there, the game will already be dead.
If you want to enjoy the challenges of playing against people without friends, you'll be handicaped by your teammates most of the time. They'll make you lose. They'll make you learn slower.
If you want to play with your friends to see how good you are as a team, most of your memories will be of awkward silences after defeat, and few of actually happy moments.
If you want to have fun with strangers alone without caring too much about victory, get ready to get yelled. And in the next game. And again. And again. And again...
If you want to have fun with your friends without caring too much about victory... enjoy the game, and if you believe in anything PRAY for your friends to never start caring about winning.

This videogame will eat your time (and maybe your money). You play two, three games and BAM, 2 hours lost. You enjoy your victory, you get annoyed of losing to techies. You carry your team one game, next one you lose because someone was too bad, because something simply went too wrong. And then it starts to build up, day after day, until you see you have played 1000 hours. You could have done so many things with that time. So many games to play. So much stuff to learn. You could do things that always make you happy. And then you ask yourself: Was it worth it? Did this game bring me enough happiness? Am I winning enough the gamble that is this game when it comes to fun, to happiness?

I regret playing this game. I hope you won't find yourself in that situation.

I also have a song lyric. Songs are great to express regret:

Everybody told me MOBAs dangerous
I guess I didn't believe it until now
Matt always seemed apprehensive
And now he's really freaking out
What do I do?
I don't want that for you

Everybody tells me time is precious
On the planet fun, and that means yours
And I have to protect you
What if somehow you feel bad.
What do I do?
I don't want that for you

What am I going to tell you?
You're better off not knowing the game I'm in,
I don't want you to worry about what I've just seen,
About what I've just played
You don't have to be a part of this
I don't think I want you to be
You don't need this
You don't need dota
