Early Access Review
4 of 5 realistic survival game

Pros:
-Immersive
-Wolves
-Scavenge
-Don't freeze
-Don't starve
-Don't bleed out
-Don't get an infection
-Don't get lost in a blizzard
-Don't go out too early
-Don't stay out too long when the wind picks up
-Find what you need or die
-Invest your time wisely

Cons:
-Once you know the map, the game gets somewhat easy (proceedural maps would be better.)
-So far only a "how long can you survive" sandbox -- no goals for getting out (story mode coming soon) or thrive (thinking minecraft here)

All in all, very fun game if you like immersive survival experiences. The world is beautiful and cruel. There are no zombies.

I imagine as the game evolves out of early development, only good things will come. Very stable, smooth platform -- there are basically no bugs and just about everything works (it would be nice if I didn't snap every fishing line after catching 1 fish) so the company knows what it's doing and there's a lot of promise... these guys know how to make a good game.

The weather system is downright amazing. Let's say you've used up the supplies at your lone cabin in the woods and need to head out into the wild. You wait until a nice, warm day, and you leave in great conditions. A few hours go by and you haven't found anything. The wind picks up and you start freezing. Disgruntled, you begin the long journey home. But the wind gets intense, you get tired, and as your pack begins to feel heavier and heavier, you realize that walking face first into the wind at half speed might not get you home in time. Then things get ugly when the wind and snow turn into a whiteout blizzard. Not able to see 10 feet in front of you, you lose your sense of direction and get lost. In desperation, you find a rock that sheilds the wind and you light a fire, only to have the wind change directions and put it out. No wood left, condition worsening, and too exhausted to move, you crawl to the other side of the rock to get out of the wind, hundle into your sleeping bag and pass out, never to awaken again.

The only big downside for me right now is the loss of adventure once you know where stuff is. I wish there were a proceedural map because the most fun I had was starting up for the first time, freezing to death in the wind, looking around at the empty forest and hills and thinking "♥♥♥♥... my time is running out fast and if I don't find shelther soon, I am going to freeze. Wait... is that wolf... stalking me? Oh god no..."
