I DARE you to show actual gameplay footage in your trailers. If anyone could see how this game actually looks and feels to play, they would be mortified that a game like this came out in 2023. Did you even have playtesters?

It's really fun, but the devs abandoned it. No communication for 6 months, no new content for like 8 months. If it goes on sale or you get it for free somehow, it's worth playing, but don't expect much after your first couple hours.

You ABSOLUTELY need to play Life is Strange 1 AT MINIMUM before you play this one. It is integral to the underlying plot.

Note, that there isn't a single Life is Strange game that I would NOT recommend.

However, as each game is released, I have an ever-growing concern that they continue to get shorter and shorter. This game was, at it's core story, only about 10 hours. For $50, its amounting to around 5 dollars an hour (depending on how long you take to putz around). While I understand that this is a large studio, and a massive franchise, causing larger efforts to create a cohesive experience I would imagine; I fear that the series is consistently dropping in world intractability and, subsequently, game duration.

There are significantly less interacables, and it seems as if choices are far less significant in altering the game's outcome as, let's say, LiS2. The second game has the most final outcomes, and the choices you make along the way culminate into those endings in a way that you cannot predict, which is, in my opinion, what makes these experiences appealing in the first place.

In this game, you make a significant choice within the first 30 minutes. However, the choice is not nearly as significant as it is suggested by the "SUPER IMPORTANT DECISION HERE" cutscene that pops up that we are likely all familiar with. There are several of these throughout the game that are relatively inconsequential, apart from a character maybe being "on your side" in the final sequences, which, honestly does not matter in the slightest. You will not be locked out of a significant ending (like LiS2) if you make the "wrong" choice. All it changes really is who shows up in cutscenes for you later, and getting closure with these inconsequential characters that you form very little bond with in the first place. There is one character you will probably love, though, and you will stop at nothing to make him happy. Love that guy.

While I am clearly critical of the direction the studio is heading with these games, it is still an incredible experience that I believe most people would not think twice about these points, realistically. At least for the short time that you can play it; as, like I said, the game is way too short.

TLDR: I have autistic fixations on series I like. You will like the game, especially if you're a casual story game enjoyer.

Honestly pretty good. It actually feels like an Assassin's Creed game as opposed to Odyssey and Valhalla.

I spread a rumor via 50 papers scattered around the office about the boss having an underage girl anime figure collection, so he got voted out.

Good game

Early Access Review
I was a little bit nervous about how the state the game would release in, considering their previous game Craftopia released almost unplayable, and took probably ~2 years to flush out into something that made any sense.

Fortunately, Palworld blew away my expectations. The progression of the story is solid, it doesn't feel too grindy to get to a point where you understand the game mechanics. The exploration is solid, with the continued addition of the glider, as well as ride-able monsters. I'm a huge fan of getting rid of the massive magic menu UI and just allowing the player to let their monsters take care of the magic.

The developers truly put a lot of time and effort into this game, and it's clear. They used their past mistakes with Craftopia to develop a new title that really improves on all of the proof of concept ideas that fell flat previously.

The multiplayer works right out of launch. While I'm not a huge fan of progression being tied to your friend's world in the format of "dedicated" servers, where the host has to be online for you to play, I understand that this is done to reduce server load when the devs are as small as PocketPair. Peer-to-peer game hosting is the smart way to circumvent the massive cost of multiplayer servers.

Overall, solid launch. I'm really enjoying it. Didn't mention too much about the industrial side, as I only have very basic setups I don't feel I'd be able to fully critique it or tell anyone if it's "good" or not.
