Compared to the first, this is a definate step up, and a slight step to the side. While the first game revelled in the grind, and the sheer ridiculousness of its heists; wheras you start as mild mannered bank robbers and end up pseudo-terrorists by the end, this game does it more standardly.

You are robbers, plain and simple; your motivation is money, no question about it. But it still maintains that robbers image, you still end up looking for that bank to hesit, jewellery store to smash, and so on. It is able to keep with some of the ridiculousness of the first, with your working with drug cartels, wacky science, and the armies of police and governement agents that try to stop you.

Speaking on you, the whole unlock and combat system recieved an overhaul, which greatly differentiates it from the first. With weapons no longer skill tree locked (minus the ove9000 saw), the game is more free form, and you can play it to how you want to play it. As well, weapon mods allow a greater variety of strategy to be emplored, this combined with the revamped skill trees, make it much more flexible. The way the unlocks work, makes the game have that extra degree of team heisting as well. No longer are you the one man army, knowing everything, you must now choose how to specialise your character, and the different results are staggering.

Some things the game has, and does, do stay with what the series is partially known for. Things like RNG generated level designs, to the armies of police, swat, FBI, and special forces trying to stop you. As well as the bad things, like bugs, glitches, some clunkyness, and missing content, as well as minor grind to the game. At the time of writing this, they are still feverantly patching the game, and trying to add more content, with several high profile DLC's along the way. These do not hold the game back though, more so, it allows us to look to the future, and find the inprovements that are incoming.

I highly recommend it as a co-op game with friends, fun with even one other person. Now go out there, and heist!

Quite the description for the game, you have. I'll try to get it! :D:
