I played Tomb Raider (2013) mostly to test out some new hardware and make sure it was working correctly. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the game itself.

General Gameplay Loop
This being a linear adventure game means the gameplay loop is pretty much the same - story cutscene, linear movement, some parkour, maybe a puzzle, with combat sections sprinkled in. This is not a bad loop though it means everyone's experience will be basically identical save for the combat. The story doesn't make a ton of sense but I guess that's not really the point of these kinds of games.

I finished the main story of the game and intend to go back and get what achievements I'm able to. Note that many achievements are unobtainable due to requiring the online mode which is no longer available.

The difficulty is pretty low, I started on normal but bumped it to hard after finding you're a bit of a bullet sponge. I find the combat pretty fun.

Despite this game being pretty old, I still recommend it. It has its flaws, the story is illogical, and the game is pretty short for a AAA game (I completed the main story in 10 hours), meaning they use the collectibles and whatnot to boost the playtime. But, it's still worth a play.
