I wrote the above review as a meme a bit ago and honestly as i've had more time to sit on it I can't really recommend VRChat.

VRChat nearly killed me. I had for years been pre-disposed to unhealthy amounts of drinking alcohol and family had been alcoholics for years. The night life and ability to party with friends every day of the week fueled my own alcoholism until eventually I just became addicted to the stuff. Even after not being on VRChat for a while I still had to struggle for half a year with my drinking problems. It took the Dr telling my I had cirrhosis and could very likely die if I didn't stop drinking.

My own personal struggles aside creating an environment like that which could easily be accessed by most minors sends a HORRIBLE image and sets a terrible example. It glorifies night life and alcohol and the NSFW clubs and groups exist en-masse in VRC and the vetting process to determine who's actually 18+ is non existent in a lot of them. I joined a few which had ID verification but even then it's dicey. I'm 30 and don't want to deal with anyone under the age of 25, let alone a minor, invading any space i'm in.

I honestly think VRChat creates this loop where you get addicted to the social aspects while also partying every other night and creating an unhealthy situation that could very likely kill you.

Really, if you're not susceptible to alcoholism, have good mental health and don't get super absorbed into games, then go for it. VRChat at a surface level is really fun. The deeper you go, and the less functional you are as a person, the more and more hard it gets to break the cycle of unhealthy things that exists alongside the game. The harder it is to leave communities that keep you wanting more and more.
