Welcome to my review version 1.5...

Introduction:

Sorry this review may be very very long.. However that's because No Man's Sky has come a very very long way since release. No Man's Sky has improved so much its kind of unbelievable. The current version of the game just had a huge update called NEXT which is version 1.5 it was so big they had to skip 1.4 and pull a Microsoft. However I say its even bigger then that because the game could easily be considered No Man's Sky 2 the game just feels very different now and the scale of this project is unbelievable.

Background:

No Man's Sky's launch will never be forgotten and I'm sure everyone is aware of this by now. With a bunch of promises broken and just releasing the game in a very unfinished broken state. Yeah that game anyways it seems very little people know the backstory to why the game launched the way it did. The game developers had there office flooded in 2014 and only little bit of the game was recovered basically only the engine was saved with all progress lost. That's why most of the interviews you see him "lying" was made around 2013-2014. The interviews in 2015-2016 you can tell by the way he talks about the game is more vague and the answers to previous questions have changed that's because they were running out of money and were getting pressure from Sony and they were unsure if they were able to finish the game in time with those features before launch. So Hello Games decided to just launch the game 08/09/2016-08/12/2016 they knew it would be disastrous however they had to take the chance. So with all the money they made from launch its been put back into the game and even till this day No Man's Sky is always updating. So now we are here with a game that is basically the next Minecraft.

What Has Changed?:

Okay this is where we start listing things. I wont talk about the launch since everyone knows it at this point and I kind of went into it in the previous section. Now I'm going to do a list of things that has changed and been added. No Man's Sky is what it should've been at launch and even completely more then that now. There is a couple of things still missing however the list is very small and its very minor things. I will go through that in the next section for now lets go through what they added and changed.

*Complex Base Building - You can build anywhere at any place. The building limit... There is no limit its literally unlimited and you can use over 100 parts to build with. However for gameplay you do need to unlock recipes by finding these blueprint modules to trade in for building recipes. They're usually buried underground so you need to dig em up. However in creative you can avoid that step.

*Terrain Manipulator - Basically allows to edit the terrain in any way and this is a way to mine certain resources as well as dig up buried treasures. The terrain Manipulator is nice for making sculptures, even out land, get out of tight spots, and so much more.

*Exocraft Vehicles - Basically this allows you to drive three different sets of land vehicles to make land exploration much easier and faster to keep this review shorter I wont go through each class however they all have there own benefits.

*Over 30 Hours of Story - The old story was reach the center and becoming very disappointed with that result however now there is over 30 hours of story which is very nice addition and gives a better idea of your role in the universe.

*Side Missions - Basically you go to space stations or your freighter/frigate and you can start side missions for various rewards and there is a quite a bit of variety in what the missions have you do however don't expect it to go to deep.

*Multitool, Ship, and Freighter Classes/Ranks - Basically everything has a class rank now which gives your Multitools, Ships, and Freighters a rank of C, B, A, and S. C being the worse and S being the best. Ships have classes like Fighters, Explores, Hauler, Shuttles, Exotic, etc... Multitools have Alien, Experimental, Normal. Freighters don't have classes they only have the ranks.

*Fauna(Animals/Creatures) Overhaul - Fauna is now has smarter AI and a lot of new models and things have been added to the generation now there are bigger animals and longnecks like in the trailer back in 2014 and they even move in Heards and interact with the environment however they don't react to each other yet but they do attack each other as well as you I'll go back to this in a later section

*Planet Generation Overhaul - Basically planets got a ton of new biomes and planet types and they got huge graphical improvements however we will go into graphics in more detail in a bit

*Flora(You know trees, plants, etc..) Overhaul - Basically they added a lot to plant variety as well as having world types have world specific resources which makes every planet feel more different and alive.

*Several Graphics Overhauls - Basically the graphics have been improving with every update and if you compare footage from launch to now its quite mind blowing how much they changed the visuals in this game.

*Full 4 Player Co-Op and 16 Players per Instance - Okay so you can now do full Co-Op with up to 4 players and say if you have a full party of 4 that means you can see 12 other people how ever you wont be able to see them as a physical body but as a ball of light. We'll go into that later in a different section. However you can experience the whole game with your friends from, story, exploration, building, discoveries, and even missions with some being specifically for Co-Op. You can go as far from your friends as you want to. You can go to different planets, systems, and as far as you want no limits.

*Character Customization - Basically you can now create a character and you actually have a body. You start off with a basic character which is default for everyone but once you go to a space station you can customize your characters between 5 races with a ton of options with each race. Its surprising how deep the customization is

*Emotes/Gestures - Not only are your characters customizable you can actually do emotes/gestures to other players and it looks so good.

*Animation Overhaul - Everything is just so animated now and it just looks very very good compared to the original game you can tell a lot of attention has went into the animations this time around.

*Photo Mode - Basically allows you to go into free mode to take pictures anyway you want it has a ton of options and filters as well its very fun to mess with.

*Space Station/Building Overhaul - Basically Space Stations and Buildings got a overhaul with how they look and how they are generated and they just look so nice I don't want to spoil it for you so I'll stop here.

*Farming - Yes you can farm various resources and its a good way to make units and makes the crafting experience a tad bit less grindy

*Economy Overhaul - Basically the economy has gotten a whole overhaul and each system has its own economy. There are currently 3 currencies. Units which are used to buy things like Exosuit Upgrades, Ships, Freighters, Multitools, and items from terminals. Then you have Nanite Clusters which can be used to purchase technology blue prints for your Exosuit, Ships, Freighters, and Multitools. Then you have the new currency that will be unlocked by weekly community events that Hello Games are having and you can spend it on loot and several different rewards. We'll go more into this in a different section.

*Space Overhaul - Basically now planets and its terrain can be seen in space accurately, space looks a lot prettier, and exploring space is a lot better experience since now there is conflict levels, economies, star system rarities, etc...

*Third Person Mode - Basically you can now play in First or Third Person mode.

*Portals - Now you can fast travel with portal codes.

*Resource Overhaul - Resources changed

Sorry for the spam start from the first comment to the one before this comment that's the right order. Stupid Steam and its character limits only 8000 for reviews and 1000 for comments lol.

Final Conclusion:

I see a lot of people asking is this game worth it? 100% yes please buy this game and support the devs they worked hard on making this game great and it shows they truly love and care for the game and its community. The game will only continue to improve and get better even though right now its great! However the gameplay loop is the same and it is very grindy at times specially when you first start off. So if you don't like those kind of games maybe stay away. I feel the game is worth it at full price 100% if you can get it on sale then 1000% JUST DO IT! Thanks for reading my review have a nice day.

Performance:

So Performance right is kind of meh and this is the only part where I will be negative about the game. Right now here are my specs that I've been playing this game on:

CPU: i7 5930k 3.5ghz 6 cores

GPU: 1080TI EVGA SC

RAM: 64GB DDR4 3333mhz

Now with that out of the way the this game should run max 4K at 60FPS with no problem because the visuals of the game aren't anything to where it should bring the hardware to its knees.. However it does I get about 30-38FPS at 4K max however at 1440p max I get around 60FPS-120FPS. I noticed performance seems to drop in seems with a lot of smoke, fog, and particles. Not sure why but there is a nice guide that could help fix drops and keep performance more steady. Hopefully with the success and popularity of this update hopefully they'll improve performance for 4K considering Xbox One X and PS4 Pro could do 4K 60FPS however not sure what the graphics settings are on that.

Gameplay:

Okay so the gameplay has improved a lot with various things to do I mean the features also speak for itself. I mean there is a lot however there is a lot of grinding at the beginning and it could get tedious but the payoff is totally worth it. The gameplay is actually really fun once you get the hang of it and mess around with everything. The game is just really fun to play way better then launch.

Where Do We Go From Here?:

No Man's Sky will continue to be updated with big updates like this every 3-6 months and Hello Games will now do weekly updates for community events and various other things they also said they will communicate more openly for now on. Right now the game is in a very great state and it will continue to be support and Hello Games ARE listening. Right now we only know a few things that will be added and thats dynamic clouds from the trailers, tessalation, and a more big and open Multiplayer experience since a fully synced game is only supported up to 4 players Hello Games did say they will expand this more drastically in future updates.

So Whats missing?:

Basically almost everything has been added however right now there are a few things missing such as giant sandworms, roatating planets, a actual sun, planets oribiting around the sun, landing on asteroids, and being able to fly to another star system literally that is it. Those are the only things missing. However with those missing we got a lot that isn't even suppose to be in the game in the first place like base building, land vehicles, character customization, side missions, over 30 hours of story, farming, terrain manipulation, treasure, NPCS, fleets, frigates, full on Co-Op, and so much more that is the little things
