Despite all the drama, Paranautical Activity is a pretty solid roguelike FPS that was worth the money even when it was in "Early Access" ... if i was in Early Access when it was in Early Access. Whatever. Have fun, and don't kill GabeN. Yeah.

I played "Gone Home." All the way through. It was crap. Not only was the story they wanted to tell a one-sided political screed about somebody's pet social issue, (lesbianism) but the interactivity was crap too. I kept expecting a more interesting secret to emerge than the obvious one, but it never did. I kept trying to get the different objects in the house to interact in non-obvious ways, but they never could. Any of the Myst games was better story-wise. Bioshock Infinite looked better graphically. Everything that "Gone Home" did has been done better by other teams, even their preachy feminist aesop.

This is a gimmick, and the gimmick is all it has going for it. The gimmick is about hating on Christians and Western culture. People who hate Christians and Western culture and have no taste at all will buy it and people who don't, or who have good taste, won't. I don't hate Christians or Western culture, therefore I give this a negative review. And that's all.

I only happen to own it because it was a "mystery game" in a bundle. There is no way I would have bought the bundle if I'd known it would be supporting these developers in any way. If you absolutely must know what's in this game, then please pirate it because these developers can go flip hamburgers as far as I'm concerned.

Within five minutes of play, you can tell that this developer didn't playtest without being present to give verbal explanations of what the hell is going on. You can press F1 to get some vague instructions but that's crap. If I wanted to read a book then I wouldn't be playing video games right now. Video games have their own methods of delivering information (through game play) which are completely missing from this experience. There is no reason why this game can't walk new players through how to play it with an interactive tutorial other than incompetence or laziness on the part of the developer and that, by itself, is ample justification for a negative review at this point.

Despite it looking beautiful with it's crisp asthetic and chess motif, I would not recommend this at $10 and would find it a headscratcher whether or not to recommend it at $1. (I picked it up in a bundle) It may have wonderful FPS mechanics but if so, they're hidden behind a barrier to entry which is so completely unnecessary that the sheer magnitude of this bad design choice is just staggering. If an interactive tutorial is added later then that would change things, but at this point, I just don't see how anyone who isn't friends with the developer could recommend it. It's like a jigsaw puzzle manufacturer who forgot to print a picture on the puzzle pieces.

I know what it looks like: It looks like they just made another PAC-MAN for another system with the same old crap you've seen before. But this ... this is no cheap attempt to cash in on the PAC-MAN logo with a few bells and whistles. Instead, someone took a serious look at the elements that made Pac-Man fun, and designed their game around that from the ground up: to focus on those aspects as much as possible. They minimized the parts everybody hated which were, at that time, designed just to eat your quarters. It's crazy how fun PAC-MAN Championship Edition DX+ is. Get it.

I recently bought this game in a Steam sale and I must say I absolutely love the concept and can't wait to be skalking around as the aliens. And I mean that literally, as in, I literally can't wait. There is no way I am going to wait this long to play anything. I have other things to do in my life than sit at a loading screen for HALF AN HOUR! My computer can run current generation titles like Bioshock Infinite without the slightest problem, so it's not my specs, it's this game's lack of optimization. I would prefer a high framerate low polygon mode that looks as ugly as 1993 if it loads in a decent amount of time over pretty looking graphics that take all day to load any day. As it stands now, I can't join any multiplayer games because they will be over long before the game finishes loading, and since there is no single player campaign, multiplayer is all this game has got. So fundamentally, this thing is broken because they didn't bother to test it on the sort of computers that most humans actually own. Tell your artist great job, cause all those shiny graphics just got you a bad review.

Good but it silently cries out for a voiceover

Project Temporality is a really cool idea but it desparately needs somebody to download a copy of Audacity and record a voiceover for it. The way you're constantly stopping to read text boxes completely negates any sense of immersion the game creates stylistically. But the graphics are solid and the mechanic it's based on is clever.

Also, a first person camera perspective might be nice to have as an option, because butt-staring is soooo 2003.

Still, if you already got Portal and Quantum Conundrum and want moar button weighting puzzles then totally grab this.

It's a little buggy. I suspect there are memory leaks. But up until that point, it plays great. Nice little tower defense game. Hopefully, they'll fix the bugs at some point and then it will be perfect. Hard to complain about something that's so cheap, it's practically free. :)
