Honestly it's a pretty simple and relaxing little cooking sim game.
No time pressure to get orders done, a wide array of recipes and custom orders to keep you on your toes. Different mechanics each stage to keep things from getting too repetetive.

Strangely enough this is one of my go-to 'play after work' work games.

Basically a less customizable VSeeFace that requires a subscription to use.
The only thing you really get with this is buggy hand-tracking out of the box but that's pretty much it.
I was excited to see the software grow because it has promise, but I'm not about to spend $12 a month just for hand-tracking and to remove watermarks.

There's really just not a lot to say about it. VSeeFace is better in pretty much every way, especially price-wise, and even VSeeFace has the option for hand-tracking with the one-time purchase of additional hardware.

Just not good.
I've played plenty of Tower Defense games in my time, but this is just plain unfun.
From horrible gun play to useless tower defenses, to enemies that jerk and slide all over the place, the game is incredibly unfun to play. And if the game is that unfun within the first 40 minutes, I really don't see it getting much better.
I'll just say, the game looks a lot better than it actually is.

Even for a Demo, this game is honestly amazing.
While admittedly the gameplay is a little finicky at best,
the game absolutely OOZES style like nobody's business.
The artistry in this game is absolutely stunning and the environments, the world building, writing, the music.
I want it injected straight into my veins.

The demo is like that first taste and now I'm addicted.
I want to buy the whole brick and I absolutely can not wait.

Not outright terrible, but horrifically overpriced for what it is.

The gameplay loop itself is simple enough, and I have no problems with that.
Enter dungeon, fight monsters, collect materials and blueprints, exit dungeon, craft and upgrade gear, rinse, repeat.
The problem however is that for however simple the gameplay loop is, the actual gameplay itself is equally as simple.
Just spam attack until things die, occasionally use a skill, dodge sometimes. Really it's just not satisfying to play.
And to be clear, I'm really not being reductive about the gameplay itself.

On top of the combat being just generally quite uninteresting and unsatisfying, it isn't helped by the fact that it's also a little bit clunky. Not horribly clunky, but just enough to detract from what precious little enjoyment there could have been in the first place. To give the game credit though, the combat is functional at least.

The crafting is pretty lackluster as well. Not that crafting can really be super engaging to begin with, but particularly with regards to having to refine materials for creating new gear, it's just a bit redundant.
The added step to refine materials feels entirely pointless and designed exclusively for the purpose of wasting a players time. It's not even as though these refined resources require various types of other resources. It's just a single resource getting condensed down into fewer 'refined' resources for no reason other than bloat. Which this wouldn't even be so bad if it didn't have an arbitrary time gate on it like it was some sort of mobile game.

Then there's actual progression which started out okay but rapidly became more and more of a slough. In my relatively short time with the game, I only got down to the third 'world', the snow area. But in my short time I noticed a sharp decline in better gear. From the first area dropping legendaries left and right, to the third area barely even giving common gear. A distasteful pattern that I have no reason to believe won't carry on through the rest of the game. Suffice to say upgrading gear became more of a chore, if even at all possible.

Without getting too into any of the other nitty gritty qualms I have with the game and its design, I think I've given this game enough time to tell that it's not something I plan to come back to any time soon.
Bottom line is it's just not that fun and far to expensive for what little fun you could realistically have with the game.

Yeah this is about everybody's worst fears for this game coming true.
To call it a mess would be insulting to all other messes.

I'm not even going to bother giving this game a particularly in-depth review because why should I spend more time reviewing the game than the developers spent actually developing the game.

From the countless bugs, most of which are entirely game-breaking, impossible server connection, to altogether bad design choices. This game, while it has precious few redeeming qualities, has far more wrong with it than it makes up for.

While I'd like to give the devs the benefit of the doubt, as the game does have solid bones, I would say that their incompetence borders on criminally negligent at best, or intentionally malicious at worst.

So long story even shorter, DO NOT BUY this pathetic excuse for a game, you'd only be fueling the wildly successful scam that it is.

As some other reviews have put it, 'Sort of like a less feature-complete Project Zomboid in a better engine'

It's certainly not terrible, definitely not quite as janky or clunky as most early access open-world survival games, but for me it's still juuust clunky enough to feel unfun to play. Though that could very easily change with even only a handful of patches or tweaks.

Running around and looting is, to be perfectly frank, agonizingly boring. Both for the lack in overall loot variety/usefulness of loot, as well as generally sparse interiors. In most buildings there may be a few things strewn about as loose loot, and maybe a couple containers to loot, but even then most of the loot feels more like inventory clutter than valuable resources. That coupled with slightly clunky inventory management just makes the whole experience of looting altogether lackluster to say the least. Though at the very least, the game seems good about reliably sprinkling in a little bit of everything here and there so you're not often at a total loss for the resources you actually need.

The gunplay is halfway decent, but still not great. While on one hand, the fidelity of your point of aim is precise enough that clicking on a zombies head will actually result in a headshot pretty reliably depending on weapon spread, which is fantastic. The one downside to that is with how small everything is on-screen, not only is shooting precisely a bit difficult, but you can sometimes get screwed by the aiming systems, either by your click technically pointing towards some invisible geometry walls/furniture/etc especially inside buildings, or by the aiming system just going seemingly altogether awry with your shot flying way off center of your point of aim for some reason, most commonly seen when aiming at zombies, but not all of the time. And of course some of this jank translates to melee combat as well though slightly less-so. In total it's certainly not entirely game-breaking, but it's definitely mildly annoying at best. Although its saving grace is that the combat isn't particularly punishing or brutal.

The driving works well enough, vehicles handle well and repair relatively easy with only a handful of parts and resources. The overall durability of the cars themselves however seems like it could be better. Granted I understand the dev(s) likely want to dissuade people from just using their cars as an assault vehicle, mindlessly bulldozing every zombie they see. At the same time though, I feel like a car of any description should be able to handle running over more than a handful of zombies before crumpling into bits, especially from full health. Plus who just doesn't love running over zombies in a zombie survival game?

The enemy variety is well enough, a solid handful of zombie types of varying strengths and abilities. From normal shamblers, to runners, zombie dogs, big bulky meat-heads, armored police/swat and military zombies, as well as one type of zombie with an odd green aura? Never figured out what they did since I always killed them before they could do anything. As well there are human AI running around too, though they seem to be few and far between. You have friendly traders who will move about the world, fighting zombies as they go, although calling them 'Traders' is a bit gratuitous because they're really just lowly survivors who might have a handful of relatively useless items for trade. As well there are Bandits who will attack you on sight. Though in my relatively short time I only encountered one such enemy, who'd sprinted straight towards me as I gunned him down with my .357 Desert Eagle.

There is also a crafting mechanic, which works well enough I suppose as I only really played with crafting during the tutorial. Beyond that during my regular gameplay, it was mostly just used for crafting bandages/purifying water. So I can't really comment too much on it overall, though from what little I used it during the tutorial it does feel a bit clunky for bigger things like base building or building furniture/stations.

So long story short, it's certainly not a bad game, but it's not quite a good game yet either.
And while the instinctive reaction would be to compare this to something like Project Zomboid, I actually rather think it has more in common with "The Last Stand" series both in its overall content and tone. Almost as if 'The Last Stand: Aftermath' had been a proper open-world survival game instead of some awkward rogue-lite pseudo open-world hodgepodge.
Given some more time and development, especially if the dev(s) can cultivate a healthy modding community, this game certainly has the potential to rival or even possibly surpass something like Project Zomboid, but for now it's just not there yet.

A promising little 2D open world survival shooter, but still not quite there yet.

It's a bit of a mix of DayZ, Project Zomboid, Fallout, and maybe a few other trace elements from Tarkov or STALKER here or there and in my opinion, a mix for the better, for the most part.

While the general performance of the game is pretty sub-par even on a solid rig, when it runs fine, it's fine. Performance hiccups were few and far between but definitely present nevertheless.

General gameplay was okay at best. Generally quite clunky menus, navigation, and interactions. Not terrible, but again, not quite there yet. Trying to interact with certain objects that are too close together can be a pain or altogether impossible in specific instances especially without a function to cycle through any interactable objects within your interaction range.

The survival elements seem okay enough, but definitely need more work. My biggest gripe being that food & water deplete frustratingly quick as most of my gameplay was comprised of just getting food and water to keep my meters filled. Of course I'm exaggerating but only slightly, as my general gameplay loop was basically doing one thing, then refilling my meters, doing one more thing, refilling my meters. So loot one building, eat and drink everything I find, go to the next building, eat and drink everything I find. You get the point. As well after running out of food, I starved to death within seconds. So I didn't even have time to jog back to my base which was only a screen or two away.
Not to mention there being no indication what foods would make you sick. Granted yes that would be something you'd just learn over time, and some things are just logically not good for you (i.e. uncooked meat, rotten meat, etc.) but even finding berries or herbs in the wilderness almost always seems to be useless since everything I found made me sick despite the item stats saying it would heal or feed me.
Suffice to say it makes for a painfully uninteresting gameplay experience, even if I were to put in the time to learn everything that does or doesn't make you sick, it seems as though that knowledge is effectively useless anyway since almost everything seems to make you sick besides canned goods.

The general movement of the game is pretty slow too. Your walk is only so fast and your run seems to be only like 25% faster than your walk. The only other option for traversal would have been a car but I wasn't lucky enough to find a single driveable vehicle, not even one that was broken down that I could fix. Of course that's probably compounded by the fact that I was only able to check a very small handful of areas in my relatively short playtime thanks to the pitifully slow movement speed.

Enemy spawning/detection/occlusion in general seems pretty clunky as well. From enemies spawning out of thin air in the same room/building your in or from an an enclosed area that you've 100% cleared, to enemies not making any sound until they're right on top of you and appear around a corner or from behind a tree.
Though not the end of the world since combat itself is relatively easy thankfully, provided you actually have a remotely decent weapon. Which speaking of weapons, another thing that depletes frustratingly quick is weapon/tool durability. Having a metal sword completely shatter after only killing a couple enemies, or a metal pickaxe shattering after only harvesting a few ore nodes, or even flashlights breaking after one day of use, not even two full sets of batteries and an airgun suppressor breaking after maybe ~20 shots. All-in-all the durability is either horrifically low, or the durability burn rate is horrifically high, either way it's just another nail in the coffin. Especially since it seems literally everything has durability. While I get that's likely done for some semblance of 'realism' it ultimately undermines the very idea since it's pretty unrealistic for everything to get destroyed after only a few minutes of use. So even if realism is the angle, the execution is abysmal.

So the bottom line is even in spite of my relatively limited experience, I wouldn't recommend the game in its current state, but it definitely has some potential to be the next Project Zomboid if they really put in some work, and a lot of its current issues could be solved by just tweaking some numbers, or even giving players the freedom to changes these numbers themselves for their own worlds.
Maybe keep an eye on this game, maybe pick it up on sale, but don't hold your breath.

At time of writing I'm only ~4.5 hours in and absolutely loving it

When I first played the demo way back when I was instantly hooked.
Absolutely 100% completed everything in the demo and I intend to do the same with the full release version too.

It's a very simple action RPG game with a distinct class system that allows you to use various skills interchangeably between classes provided you've leveled the respective skill enough. As well with various passive skills for each class that each stack even while not assigned as that given class.
Suffice to say, you can get pretty overpowered pretty quickly, and I absolutely adore this game for that fact.
Not only is this game unafraid to allow the player to be a little OP but it almost even actively encourages it.
With a decent build and a very accessible farming spot, I've fully maxed out my player level and all my class levels for every single class within a couple hours, all without even leaving the first area of the game. Not much longer after that and I'd fully upgraded my preferred gear as well, though after all the passive buffs from the various classes and all the stats from getting to player level 100, the gear upgrades were more for the sake of completion than necessity.
Ever since I've just been plowing my way through the games enemies and bosses like they were nothing and I'm absolutely loving it.
Of course that's just my particular build, of which there are countless possible builds thanks to the cross-class systems and various equipment available. Though the equipment isn't a particularly expansive offering, it should offer whatever you could hope to want to best suit your preferred play style.
Plus you can pet dogs and have them follow you around, and there's companion/familiars that you can also acquire and 'equip' for additional passive buffs or minor abilities.
Also the game features a nice little cosmetic system that allows you to change your character and wyvern sprite to various palette swap versions of each class (and even cross-class sprites if you've fully leveled them. (i.e. dress as a barbarian even though you're a wizard, etc.) As well as the opportunity to use NPC sprites for your player as well, though from what I see you have to finish the game first before you get access to those sprites.

Long story short, this game is relentlessly fun for me and I'm loving every second.
I was even ready to pay $20 for it while waiting for release, so for $10 I say the game is an absolute steal.

Insanely grindy game with halfway decent gameplay.
And when I say grindy, I mean like play for hours just to get a 0.1% increase on your stats or progress.
How the developer(s) expect anyone to sink enough time to progress through all the levels without cheating is beyond me.
At least if were free it'd be some kind of time killer, but this game is nowhere near $11.
