I've been playing and following this game for a long time now, even before it was available on Steam.
When I first found out about the game, it was genuinely a lot of fun, and an interesting concept.
However over time, the game just gets constantly less fun with every update. Be it due to nerfs, fundamental changes to pre-existing mechanics/items, or additions of altogether more annoying mechanics. The game has just been constantly degrading in quality. Worse yet is the devs are often asking/listening for player feedback, yet seemingly always do the opposite of what players want, or making the problems they express experiencing even worse than they already were.
Though don't get me wrong, the devs have made a few positive changes here or there but on a whole the game has only gotten worse, as much as it pains me to say so.
That's about all there is to say about it. I just hope the devs have the realization they need to actually make the improvements to their game that it deserves, because at it's core it's still an interesting game.

Even for $1 it's pretty lackluster.
Not that I was expecting some fully featured fleshed out RPG game or anything, but at best this feels like someone's weekend project and nothing more.
Again, granted, it's only $1. But I can't even say I see 'promise' to any idea of this getting expanded.
Having beat the game easily in under 30 minutes, I've seen more than enough to tell that this was made by a developer(s) who just fundamentally do not understand basic game design. It's got the look don't get me wrong, but it has absolutely none of the understanding, plain and simple.
If there's one good thing I can say about this game aside from it being cheap, it's that it inspires me to make something better myself, because I have every confidence that I can.

Short story even shorter;
Calling this a proof of concept is generous, more like a proof of thought.
Even at $1 just don't even waste your time.

Game is just plain boring to play.
Progression is agonizingly slow. Like a full hour of continuous grinding just to go from character level 6 to 7.
Leveling your character and skills seems to take exponentially more EXP and time.
Talent points feel so negligible it's laughable. Even dumping all of my talent points into damage only yielded 1-2 points increased damage output by level 5 as a Warrior class. Or dumping all my points into crit chance on my Hunter seemed to have no effect whatsoever as I only saw myself crit one single time in my nearly two hours of playtime.
And with this being so early in the game, I have no reason to believe the progression somehow gets better later in the game.
Plus I didn't believe the other negative reviews at first, but drop rates seem frustratingly low as well.
Like having to kill over 100 of an enemy just to get a few items needed for the only available quest. Of which completing this quest is absolutely necessary for any remotely reasonable progression.
Long story short, I'm not about to invest any more of time time into a game that clearly has no respect for it.
Early access or not, I've seen how these sorts of games tend to pan out, which is to say not well.
Unless the dev(s) miraculously learn good game design in a very short time, this game is absolutely guaranteed to die.

Wayfinder first 2 hours of gameplay
Waiting to login
Managed to get in to play for about 5 minutes before PC overheated because for some ungodly reason this game insists on absolutely melting CPU's with mediocre performance despite meeting recommended specs.
Like most of the other negative reviews say right now, laughably abysmal servers. At least now they have a login queue system, but it still takes forever to get in. From what I've seen usually some odd 20,000 players waiting to get in at any given moment. Which that alone accounts for a minimum of $400,000, not even factoring for actual total online players or players who might've bought more than the basic founders pack. From which the devs could easily afford more/better servers, so there really is zero excuse for these god awful connection times.

From what little I did get to play, the game seems okay at best for now. The UI is absolutely disgusting with navigation being about as poor. Though it makes sense considering how they seem to have built this game around a 'mobile' aesthetic, which is notoriously awful. I live for the day when dev companies finally realize that absolutely nobody actually likes this style of UI.

On top of that, yet another hero shooter/action rpg, because that isn't the single most tired trope at this point yet. God forbid players should be able to make their own unique or interesting characters with their own skills or styles.
But then again if they did that, they wouldn't be able to gouge players wallets to unlock 'the latest hottest hero' or skins.
Even though it will most likely sacrifice my refund eligibility, I do want to try playing more to see if maybe, just maybe it could actually be worth a damn. But based off my small glimpse into the game, it feels unlikely.

Day 2, another 3 hours spent trying to login only to be met with "Access to the title is currently disabled"
Marvelous. over 5 hours on record with only 5 minutes of actual playtime. Glad to have sacrificed my refund eligibility for this.

Day 3, 3 more hours spent just waiting to log in. Finally got in again. Played for about 30 minutes, did one dungeon, then got disconnected. Straight back to the main menu, 16,000 queue, probably another 2+ hours before getting back in. Absolutely pathetic.

Really love having my time wasted like this, and my money effectively stolen.
Trust all the negative reviews, absolutely steer clear of this login screen simulator until they can at least figure out the single most basic fundamental aspect of running an MMORPG; Having literally any servers.

Not going to lie, I kinda wanted to see for myself if it was as bad as all the reviews make it out to be.
It really is that bad, if not worse.

Without reiterating everything you've probably seen in every other negative review,
the simplest way to put it is just that the game is a loveless, hollow, clunky mess.
Not even a 'So bad it's good', just plain bad and embarrassingly so.

I wouldn't even buy this game for $20, let alone a full $70.

Very fun, very addictive.
So much so that I 100% the prologue, maybe even 110% it.

Max Player level, all class levels max, max familiar levels, cleared every achievable in-game achievement, fully upgraded my gear.
I even went so far as to find a way to get outside the map and uncover more of the map beyond where the demo ends including uncovering various islands that seem to be completely inaccessible otherwise (Not counting ones that are likely accessed through later unreleased areas of the game)

Suffice to say I thoroughly enjoyed the prologue and am eagerly awaiting the full release now.

This game is an absolute joke.
DayZ Standalone looks like a masterpiece next to this.
Garbage combat mechanics, garbage looting, garbage controls, zero improvements to the core gameplay or mechanics and maybe even gone backwards in development over the years still with bugs and glitches galore. Utterly embarrassing.

Don't let any of the promo footage fool you, you won't be playing anything even remotely comparable to what's been advertised because making the game look interesting is where all the budget has gone.
The actual game is running between tiny villages with the same handful of houses filled with 1% durability garbage most of which is completely useless without myriad other items that you won't even be able to carry since you're lucky if you even get a single piece of clothing of any reasonable durability or capacity. Let alone finding or crafting a bag which may as well be top tier loot for what it's worth.
Not to mention the fame and currency mechanics that actively punish you for bad RNG, something which the player has zero control over outside of pouring an inordinate amount of time and patience into the game.(Of which you will be actively ♥♥♥♥♥♥ all along the way)
I genuinely can't think of a single even halfway good reason to play this pathetic excuse for a game because it doesn't do a single thing even remotely competently. The only thing it has going for it is barely decent looking graphics, but even those are pretty dated.
Not even worth a try if it were free.

A neat mech game with amazing levels of customization that ultimately doesn't mean much and is generally a bit clunky to boot.

It can be hard to put my finger on exactly what it is about this game that makes it not fun to play.
However my best guess is somewhere between the generally slightly clunky and incessantly repetitive nature of the gameplay, stiff and awkward combat animations, and unfortunately meaningless customization options.

While I do severely appreciate the number of options available for all the individual parts of my 'MASS'. Options which include innumerable different armor plates, accents, and accessories for every part of my 'MASS' from head to toe, even extending to weapons and equipment. All this customization really does nothing since the stats come purely from your 'Tuning' anyway.
Though at least weapons behave differently dependent on the type of blade/muzzle, even that doesn't mean much since there's only a handful of 'types' per weapon class that behave exactly the same across their respective variants.

As well the customization menus are super clunky on top of it all. Between painting, decal-ing, changing components, it's so finicky and cumbersome.
Want to change the color of one section of one part? Navigate to that part on the top menu, Switch from Assembly to Paint mode, Select and or deselect the part(s) you want to edit, select 'change style' and select from a custom or premade style, adjust the color and material properties if needed, and last of all do not forget to save.
Not even mentioning actually swapping around the parts themselves or their accessories.
Which you would have to select the part category (i.e. Head Top Armor), select 'Armor' Select the armor variant you want, press save, repeat the steps above for color/material customization.
Then if you want to add accessories (freely movable/scalable/rotatable primitives and bits and baubs that are each have to be colored/styled, with the same steps above, saved and mirrored if necessary.
And you have to do that for every. single. part. category.
Of which there are like 24 separate part categories each with 4 sub-components or more if you add additional accessories per part (up to an additional 8 per part each of which can have 2 sub-components themselves)
So if I'm doing my math right you could have theoretically anywhere from 96 to 480 times you have to effectively run through those steps to fully customize/color your 'MASS'.
Though you can just give your 'MASS' a quick instant full color change (changing every part and components color/material all at once)
And if you spent time customizing a particular style on a particular piece or customizing the piece itself and back out without explicitly saving the customization, you just lose the customization. No warning. For every single customization option.
To call it tedious is generous.
Though I'm sure there's some people out there who find that level of fuss satisfying, and I'm not discounting the level of customization, all I'm saying is it could've been done better and been easier to do. If I could just grab a 'paintbrush' tool and just click on the different parts I want to paint with whatever color/style/material I have selected, this entire rant would be null and void. Instead it's 100% menu-oriented customization.

Now as for the gameplay itself while I did only get a handful of missions played in my relatively short time with the game, I found them incredibly repetitive and severely unrewarding. From the pattern I noticed, the only worthwhile reward from any given mission is access to a new tier of resources for your next tier of research to unlock marginally better upgrades. You also get progress towards unlocking different cosmetic parts which is nice, but I ultimately don't find rewarding since the cosmetics are just that, cosmetic.
As well the combat itself is just a bit lackluster. Not particularly great TPS controls, movement, or gameplay. Again hard to put my finger on the specifics, but really it's just bad game-feel for lack of a better explanation.
Not to mention a couple of bugs ranging from slightly goofy to fairly irritating. Including cluster missiles glitching out and playing sounds/particles nonstop and not despawning, to getting stuck in an attack animation unable to move, attack, or do anything. While thankfully not a softlock since you could attempt the same attack again (which is still a lengthy attack animation regardless) and it would return you to normal. But very annoying since all the while you could be getting bombarded by enemy attacks (especially brutal if you're playing higher difficulties).

And lastly before anyone cries, "Oh but it's Early Access, it's still early in development! You can't jud-"
If the devs give up on this game today, THIS is the product you get if you buy it, and THIS is all it will end up being.
If the devs keep working on the game and fix a lot of the core issues, improve customization, fix bugs, tighten up the gameplay. Then hey maybe it'll be worth revisiting this game some time in the future. But for now, it is what it is.
And what it is, is a bit of a clunky shallow mess.
Even at $25 I'm not sure it's worth the gamble. Maybe on sale...

How to ensure people can't refund your game;
"Building Shaders" for 2+ hours
Not even gonna bother waiting for shaders to finish.
The rate it's going I'd get 15-30 minutes to actually play and only get to play through the intro before losing refund eligibility.
It's a damn shame cuz I never got to play the original on console and I always wanted to experience the game for myself, but at this point it'd almost be more worthwhile to just get a console and buy the game on disc.

As most other negative reviews are saying, 'God awful port, horrible optimization, horrible performance, horrible hardware utilization'.
To be honest I don't even think a patch could save it at this point.
I'm gonna go spend my $70 on literally anything else, thanks.

I bought this game as a gamble a while back, and boy has it paid dividends.

The gunplay is very solid, most projectiles feel snappy and the various weapons are responsive.
A healthy variety of distinctly different weapons each with unique behaviors.
Movement is reasonably fluid with good map designs.
A good handful of unique and varied characters to choose from each with distinct abilities to suit your preferred play style.

The only gripe I could even offer is that enemy hitboxes are just slightly off sometimes. (Hit boxes are only on the actually vital parts of enemies, i.e. only the body and not clothing/accessories). But even at that, some hitboxes seem smaller than they should be. Which honestly isn't a big deal. But on rare occasion you may notice projectiles clipping through a model where it should otherwise logically hit.

At any rate though, this game is loads of fun, and still only $20 with fairly regular updates.
Don't let the low-poly design throw you off, it's actually a quality game.
