Beyond Galaxyland is literally the game I would make if I had the time, money, and gumption. I make no hesitation to say that. A beautiful blend of some of the best game mechanics over Final Fantasy, Bioshock, and Pokémon, as well as sci fi story beats ranging from classical authors like Douglas Adams to Larry Niven.

The story is of teenage Doug being whisked away by DreamCore to their corporate intergalactic nature preserve Galaxyland after an apocalyptic entity known as "The End" destroys Earth, and makes Doug a prime endangered species for preservation.

Throughout the game, you befriend robots and aliens and some of the other preserved humans as you traipse around Galaxyland, discovering the true nature of DreamCore, "The End," and the mysterious terrorist known as Malefactor.

The game has extremely varied gameplay with diverse minigames galore so you'll never get bored. While art direction is a bit weak on the human pixel art, hand-drawn portraits and everything else in the pixel art is amazing quality, and major kudos to its cinematography and use of dutch angles. The soundtrack is so good I bought it off sale at full price. Game is a perfect 14ish hours with decent challenge and progression throughout the whole game.

It easily earns a 10/10 for me, and will be a studio I'll be eyeing for future games. P.S. -- controller extremely recommended!
