You were very clearly warned every step of the way what might happen when you buy an early access title. It happened here. Absolutely be butthurt about it. I know I am. This game should have been really cool. I paid for the really cool game the developer promised to give me. But denouncing the Greenlight and Early Access programs because a developer stole your money is ridiculous.
Be pissed off. Just be pissed off at the guy who actually screwed you over (DoubleFine), not the guy who told you about an investment opportunity, did not necessarily recommend it, and allowed you to invest your money in it (Steam).
If you spent money, expected something and did not get what you expected from what they showed in their presentation, you have rights to be angry, because you were lied to
The down-side is sometimes there's a DF-9 or a Planetary Annihilation. The butthurt is misdirected. You were warned that this was not a complete game and may never be. You gambled and lost; no one to blame but yourself.
If you've been "burned" by Greenlight, you bought a game based on the fact that enough people voted for it to get on Steam. You don't get a refund if you see a movie you didn't like; you just learn to stop listening to the friend who said Jurassic World was even better than Jurassic Park.
I've bought several games in early access. DF-9 and Starforge are the only ones that didn't pan out.
DF-9 not panning out is not a reason to shy away from Greenlight or Early Access. It's a reason to think twice about buying a prerelease title from Double-Fine.
