Hollow Knight became my favorite platformer of all time in just the first 10 hours of playtime and I'm a very, very picky individual I was impressed by everything it had to offer within that short time span. The world is immense and covered by gorgeous artwork in every single corner of it, eye candy at its finest, you will be everywhere left in awe at the work done by devs. The combat has a steep learning curve as in easy to pick up and damn tough to master, especially with some boss fights. Exploration is also one of the biggest parts HK delivers, every single area may contain a secret or two if you're clever enough to discover its location. Well crafted lore, it's deep but cryptic and hidden souls-style so you'll need to dig around to understand what happened, the connections between NPCs and much more. Last but not the least soundtrack is the best piece I've experienced in a metroidvania game. Platforming at times can and will seem unfair, that's only because you've explored respective area without having equipped or found the necessary stuff to help you get past. This is closest possible option to a 2D Dark Souls without feeling like a Dark Souls game at all, best way I can put it.

[✔]
- rough & challenging but fair combat
- boss fight design
- incredibly beautiful artwork
- masterpiece OST
- story / lore
- multiple build choices
- replay value
- very lenghty

> nothing worth mentioning

Not a minus, but this game is waaayyy too cheap for the content it puts on table.
