Red Barrels have once again outdone themselves with another great installment to the Outlast Universe. Outlast Trials has the same grit and horror that Outlast 1 and 2 were known and praised for, yet Trials steps it up a notch by giving players the option to experience this game in two ways: solo or with friends/randoms.

This game's sound design and musical scores add to the scary experience and the enormous amounts of cosmetics you can unlock for both your room and your character are jaw dropping. The enemy designs are grimy and truly may shake someone to their core. There is also a good amount of lore for those who have enjoyed dissecting Outlast's files and dialogue in the first two games.

The official release of the 1.0 version means an influx of new players but there are also a fair amount of old players returning. As someone who has gotten fairly deep into the game (although with only 1 rebirth under my belt), it was refreshing to find a lobby quick and to see that the load times have greatly improved.

I was lucky enough to experience the beta testing and upon completing the tutorial and playing a few trials, I was roped back into this world and wanted to see more. If you like the original games and you want to see what it'd be like to experience something of that sort with friends, grab yourself a copy of the game.

Let the trials begin!
