Reviewing this during the pre-release. The game takes a bit of getting used to with the different UI but is still the same game we love. I will say the voice acting and art gives an AI vibe and feels less sincere than the original and titan expansion. Overall, the original game is a 10/10 and this comes close. Would love to have a bit more soul in the art and voice acting.

Did terrible in my first online game and ruined it for 3 other people, which is a quintessential RTS experience.

A fantastic city builder, the quality is high enough to feel like a civic spin off from the Age of series. The replay value is very high, with a civic and a military campaign, single mission options, a map editor, and of course, various skill levels to challenge yourself with. For being a game from 2006, it plays extremely well. While the graphics aren't stunning, they are on par with the already mentioned Age of series.

If you like city builders, RTS, Rome, or economic games then give this a try.

It will consume your life entirely, setting you back at least one year, condition you to feel anger towards other cultures when you hear someone speaking a different language, and, cause you to spend a lot of money on making your heroes fancier. It won't let you have a relaxing game when you have down time, let you enjoy any other game ever again, nor let you feel good about yourself.

You'll have dreams of going pro, you'll claim mmr doesn't matter, and then you'll realize you're a terrible 3k scrub. But you'll be okay with that, go mid and feed.

10/10, would fall into addiction and be consumed again.

A classic. It was one of the best of its time and when comparing it with its contemporaries and successors, it has held up as one of the best of all time. Very strong single player with great campaign modes and generated map games. All the cultures have different playstyles which allows for dynamic gameplay. They even support online play! The only downside to this game is that the online culture is much different than the ESO days, with a lot less creative custom scenarios being present. So whether you're looking to get into RTS games, relive a classic, or expand your library, this game is for you! If you're looking to play classic ESO era scenarios like Sims, Art Contest, Nottud maps, or any of the orginal escapes, then this will be lack luster for you. That said, if you still have the scenario files and are willing to share them with the community, you never know what will get popular again. There's plenty of us out there that would love to play them.
