The official Underworld Ascendant group from Otherside Entertainment

Underworld Ascendant is a partly crowd-funded spiritual successor to the groundbreaking Ultima Underworld series of games. Ultima Underworld 1 & 2 were created by Looking Glass studios and the brainchild of its founder Paul Neurath. In 1992 Underworld moved the text-based RPG in a 3d world in real time for the first time.(Before Wolfenstein, before Doom). It was also the game that had the first dynamic music system, had a fully functional physics system, and is the first RPG to have real time combat.

The Looking Glass games which included the Thief and System Shock series are regarded as some of the greatest games of all time. These games were unique in their day for their open player-oriented simulations of worlds where the players' actions made a real difference. Numerous game designers have credited the Looking Glass games as inspiration for some of today’s biggest hit’s like the Elder Scrolls series, Gears of War, Bioware’s RPG’s and many others.

Paul has created Otherside Entertainment as "the next Looking Glass". It is made up of a combination of Looking Glass veterans, who worked on Underworld, System Shock and Thief as well as other very experienced game developers who subscribe to the Looking Glass ideals. We are a small, tight team that wants to take the ideals of immersive world simulation to modern gaming.
