Welcome to the Official Verdun Beginners Group!

Hello Verdun Player!

I would like to personally welcome you to the Official Verdun Beginners Group!

This group is dedicated to the instruction of new players in the art of trench fighting. Our instructors are all Verdun veterans who wish to benefit the community by giving back what they have learned. Our purpose is to assist you in the path from a raw recruit into a hardened soldier. We also hope that you make a few friends along the way, who will remain with you throughout your days in the trenches.

How this Group Works:

1. If you are new to this group pop into the profile discussion and introduce yourself, get to know others by reading what they post. There is also a locked post that has all of the instructor's profiles so you can get to know them too.

2. Get connected! The OVBG uses Discord to communicate for gameplay communication. Discord is a free website that allows everyone to communicated orally and through chat. The purpose of discord is meant to allow for players to see who's online so they can join their squad, and to teach the players about the value of communication. It will also be used during any practices.

3. Practice makes perfect! The OVBG will start to run practices and workshops as soon as our player base expands. Attending practices is NOT required, but it is highly encouraged. The date of practices has yet to be determined, but stay tuned. Practices will usually run about once a month though that might change.

4. Ask for help! Need some advice? Simply post a message in the forum and you should quickly get the opinions of several instructors/administrators. Each opinion will certainly have a different take, so be sure to read every one. Remember, we are here to help!

5. Clans. The OVBG is currently sponsored by three clans, Kaiser Kompany, [F.F], and Legion Valkyrie. All clans are looking for new members, and both have a slightly different structure. Anyone who wants to is encouraged to try to join. Before you try to, however it is encouraged that you get some experience under your belt, but so far skill is only a bonus when trying to join. Make sure to read the joining requirements, and possible practice schedules for both clans. Also contact the leaders, or contact me so I can contact them for you.

Current Status of the Official Verdun Beginners Group 5/28/16

This is a message meant to be read before joining and/or trying to show up at practices.

When I started this group, I envisioned a training camp for new players to be taught skills (remember kids, gasmask is 4 by default) and basic tactics by older vets who volunteered their time. I also envisioned it as a recruitment tool for clans to pick up prospects and for new members to bond with other new members and old ones too so that they had people to play with. Intentionally however, I took a relaxed position of "new players will get out of this as much as they put in" but this later proved to be my undoing. Things looked good at first, membership shot up faster than I ever thought it would, people began friending me, and profiles were posted. We were able to have a nearly full match our first meeting, though due to some vets taking advantage of the beginners (I again blame this on myself as it was preventable and I should have realized it), some people left in worse shape then they had arrived in. Unfortunately things began to go downhill from there. Since practices were not required often the commited vets would show up and we would have only a handful of new players. I myself got tired of trying to track people down to try to convince them to come. Eventually fewer and fewer people showed up and I myself began missing practices. The big plans that I had envisioned failed to materialize and the group had remained inactive for 2-3 months despite no official declaration.

This announcement has been made to let all members, admins, moderators, and future members know that this group is in a state of inactivity and that they should not listen to the practice dates on the announcements board, nor should they expect any posts to get answered in a timely fashion, if at all (I will try my best, but I make no garuntees). The Discord channel is still up and running, but has been even more inactive then the group itself (the original plan to have people go on whenever they played went as well as showing up to pratices). I am still here and if you have questions or just want someone to play with contact/friend me on steam. I've met alot of great people and made alot of friends from this experience and despite its failure I would still do it again.
