This year Spokane Falls Comunity College is requiring that all clubs participate in some form of comunity service. We at the gamers club have decided to do what we do best and hold an event.

The event will be a weekend-long set of fighting game tournaments.*

*Originally this tournament was going to be run for a charity. Big Brothers Big Sisters was interested, however, due to bureaucratic mess caused by the school our club is unable to hold the tournament as a charity, or a charity at all. That does however provide a benefit as we will be able to offer better prizes.

Tekken 6
Super Street Fighter IV
Soul Calibur IV
Blaz Blue
Smash Bros: Brawl
Tatsunoko VS. Capcom
Systems:
Seeing as we can procure more Xbox 360s than PS3s, the Xbox will be the default for the first four games. That is not to say that there won't be PS3s. There may be an exception to allow use of a PS3 if both players agree and one is available.

Date and Time: May 29th and 30th

Registation:
Starts at 10:00 Am on the 29th

Format:
Each tournament will progress up to the quarter finals. Those matches will be played on the 30th towards the end of the tournament. the tournaments will fall in this order:

Tekken 6 => 11:00 AM 5/29
street fighter IV => 1:00 AM 5/29
Soul Caliber IV => 3:00 AM 5/29
Blaz Blue => 5:00 AM 5/29

Super Smash Bros: Brawl => 10:00 AM 5/30
Tatsunoko vs Capcom => 1:00 AM 5/30

Finals => 3:00 AM 5/30

If there is any left over time between tournaments, open gaming will apply.

Hello Gamers!

I really have to get these post started earlier in the evening! Not a lot happening this week, but we are ramping up into the holiday release season! Lot's of great games coming up and around the corner! Let's start this off!

Gamers Club News:

Not a whole heck of a lot new this week from last. Our Halo ODST day was pretty cool with a lot of Firefight and Halo 3 deathmatch throughout the day. This weeks Game Day is Wii Sports Resort. We'll be setting up in the Game Room/Rec Center again and we'll have a great time! We're still working on the details for the Halloween party, but we should have everything worked out before next weeks post!

It's a student film about a futuristic fighting game tournament. It's corny as hell, but for being a student film it's quite amazing!

It's that time of the week again where I take way too much time to write a newsletter after procrastinating it until way late in the evening! Gamers Club News

As many of you already know, today was Club Day, and boy howdy was it a good one! With a rather modest display we were able to grab the attention of several new gamers and let them know, ' Hey! We exist!' It was awesome fun and a thanks goes out to several existing members who helped with setup and breakdown. I wanted to take a moment to personally thank our VP Travis Heppner for really stepping it up by running our table outside in the cold fall air. If you see Travis walking around or at one of our events, give him a pinch, he likes that!

Anyways, so we had our first meeting last week and got a lot of work done! We scheduled out our Game Days for the next month and started planning some of our larger events slated for later this year! Also many of our new members came to us with some really great ideas for other future events as well! This year is already shaping up to be something special, and I'm really impressed with the new directions and initiative the club is displaying this early in the school year. So let's keep up the good work and really put the club on the map this year!

Summers over and school is back in session, which means it's game time! (...after homework and class, of couse >.>;;) So it's time to get the ball rollin' on a new year with new students, new plans and new games! We have a lot we need to do, but I'll get to that later! So we have a lot of business to take care of to make this quarter and school year go off without a hitch. To do this, we're planning on having a meeting this Friday (by the time you're getting this, that probably means tomorrow) to discuss all of the important points. I'll give a run down of the meeting, when/where it will be, and what it will cover.

Game Days - Discuss plans for the Game Days this quarter, such as games to play and scheduling

That should pretty much cover the more important points. If you'd like anything added to the docket, send us an email by the end of the night Thursday. I think that'll do it for this weeks news. Don't worry, all the fun stuff will be back soon and maybe even more of it! We just have a lot of business on our plate to get outta the way before we can really break it down! Anyways, I'm off!
