There’s a number of accounts that don’t have the country set because they haven’t purchased anything in a long time. We’re working on fixing those, if that’s the error you’re getting (could not determine your country) you can either wait for the fix or make a purchase to force the country code to be set. No additional info needed for those, thank you. If your error message still says internal server error, please let me know in this thread.

Ensure accounts are set to same country that what the issue can be if the problem account is set to another region, but if not have to contact support for help with this, not sure if they can help with this, but worth trying make a ticket on this.

Everyone must have their Steam Store set to the same region.

I'm experiencing the same, and the accounts are in the same country. The error isn't saying that the account isn't in the same country, but that it could not determine the country when trying to accept an invite.
"Failed to accept the family invite. Could not determine your country."
Previously it was showing a server error, so, it would appear that the error message has been improved - but, presumably it indicates there's some issue with the geolocation.
I'm having this same issue as described by dan. My wife and I are in the same house, our country is identical in the store.
A Valve employee has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Thanks for clearing that up, and glad fix is coming.
So... This is also happening to the account of the person receiving my request. We tried to buy a game and when we click the button to continue the purchase with PayPal it just always errors. I've recently bought a bunch of games so my account shouldn't be the problem.

Thank you for the clarification. Waiting for the fix, because it's impossible to make a purchase with card on Russian accounts at the moment.

...almost like even the 100% intended use case suffers because of those heightened restrictions.
family member accepted the invite. it says i have to confirm their confirmation in my confirmation tab.... like what? i don't see anything in my confirmation tab. (it says i can cancel the invite)

any help is appreciated

Edit: I didn't see these instructions but I guess the person being invited also needs to be enrolled in beta and they have to approve their own invite confirmation in their steam app.

Yes they have to opt into this family beta in order to take part of the new family share. Once they're in they have to approve the invite to join via email, or notification, if using Steam mobile app they have to open their mobile app, click approve to join the group.

Adult account can invite people to the group, before inviting you're offer two option they can be adult account, or child account. Child account can not invite others.

Adult account = share all with other adult accounts, but can choose to share all, none, or select games to share with child accounts, and can edit child accounts parental control, as well approve, or deny requests that child accounts askes for.

Child account = share all with others, that about it.

So if you're gonna manage children accounts, set them as child instead of adult, this way you get your parental control, and pick & choose what games you want to share if don't want to share all with the children,

My brother can't accept my family invite, even though we are in the same household and same wifi. We both have a steamdeck OLED 512GB. Error: not the same country

Read the highlight answer you can't miss it, if you, or your bother has not bought anything ever on said account that be issue as country has to be set on account.

Also if either of you set account country to another country that be the problem, even if in same household, and same wifi, it due to having account in another country be the problem if either you, or your bother has not set their account to same country as each other.
