Hi all! Well the Rust devs finally pushed a new update for Rust, which consisted mainly of bug fixes and some graphical updates. Nothing major really, anistropic filtering looks nice and shadows are less 'jumpy'. Some trees look better, so that's cool :)

The biggest news is that The Rusty Cage has finally been wiped this morning! After a period of nearly a week with 1-2 logins a day by random people, I decided it was time to go ahead and wipe the server so everyone can start new or have a level playing field. Also, the modding API we've been using for the Cage [Oxide] has not been updated at this time so the server is running vanilla until further notice. Cheers and see ya on the island!

First off, let me apologize for the server being down right now! It went down this morning (I believe) due to an update pushed to the server from the host without them rebooting it. In any event, the server is up right now but I am in the midst of performing reboots and updates on the server. The good news is the new version of Oxide is out now, so I am pushing that to the server now. I expect the downtime to be an hour or less from the time of this post. Cheers and see you in game!

Just a head's up to anyone in the server's Steam Group who wants to get a little extra fun out of Rust! We are testing new zones complete with resources, animals, and in some cases red animals to hunt. To top it all off, there are convenient portal landings already setup to bring you to these faraway places on the map!

Currently 2 portals are active, with plans for a 3rd later today.

• The 1st one is inside the shed by the road at Factory. At the back left corner of the shed, type /portal to go to Wasteland West.
  
• The 2nd one is inside the barn North of Lil Rad Town (using Rust Map in Steam Guides). Type /portal there to go to the Outlands, which is on the opposite side of the map from where the normal road is located.
  
• The 3rd one is going to be inside the barn at the SE-most corner of the road, but is not operational atm.
  
• You can now type /hint to get information on portal locations. Enjoy!

Today I took some time to update and reconfigure some of the mods in use on the Rusty Cage. As a result, the following changes have occured:

• Decay timers doubled!
  
• Added /rules
  
• Removing parts of a structure will now return the item to the owner's inventory.
  
• Grass is turned on upon login.
  
• Death messages now use the ⊕ symbol.
  
• Death messages show rabbit and chicken kills.

If you use /help you may notice one line says "Testing...". This is a mod that is installed but the help text has been replaced with testing until the mod is fully configured. Cheers and enjoy!

The Rust team pushed a tiny 30+MB update to Rust overnight. I've gone ahead and updated our server, and reinstalled and configured our mods. Cheers!

The only news on the tiny patch from Garry Newman:
"just internal reshuffling.It might fix a crash/freeze too."

So the tension is rising, and all of us suspect an incoming big patch on Monday!
