For those interested, I just put up another entry in the Game Spotlight thread. It might be the last one I'll be putting up for a while.

For context: I've been posting game spotlights, written blurbs, and so on; since way back in Feb 2016, when I first posted in the Roguelike of the Week thread. After almost nine years of doing so though, the genre has changed quite a bit; so much so that it can leave one awestruck on how much the word 'Roguelike' has come to define.

However, we so much deviation, it is coming to the point where there is very little of the 'old traditions' to be found. While I see the odd title pop up now again that features gameplay that drives to the heart of Rogue, it is becoming an ever increasing chore to sift through the new releases to find those games.

Not to mention the fact that most of those new releases are survivor clones...

As such I'm taking a break. It might be until 7DRL 2025 kicks up, in which case I'll post in the 7DRL Spotlight thread for that, or when someone pokes me with an actual Traditional Roguelike.

I hope that people have enjoyed the write ups though.

Starting from Entry 49 in the 7DRL Spotlight thread and going to Entry 58, I've put up all the games I thought were worth giving an extra glance - either because they might be overlooked for being an unsuccessful project or did something quite stellar and worth playing!

I've now resumed going into the usual Game Spotlights again. Have a few weeks worth of games to note, though feel free to note any games you think I should mention.

I caught notice of this game back on the Roguelike Reddit while 7DRLs were underway. The game itself is a small squad based dungeon crawler RPG, seeing you take up to four heroes to battle against other groups of enemies.

While this technically has a save system, I don't see it as that far off from roguelike games - and you could always just play it as a roguelike until such an option is added in.

I've been doing Game Spotlights for quite a while. I've mostly burned through the backlog of games I wanted to show you guys, but have done so at the most opportune time!

Recently, the judging for the 7DRLs of 2024 concluded. Much like last year I helped with the reviews, so I have a fairly good breadth of knowledge in regards to what happened to be entered this year. Check out the 7DRL Spotlights thread next week for some highlights I figured are worth noting from this year.
