ABOUT Hopeville

HOPEVILLE ... LOST CITY ..WAITING FOR YOU !

Along with its neighbor Ashton, Hopeville was home to several United States Armed Forces nuclear missile bases and silos. In 2077, along with the rest of the world, it burned in nuclear fire. Although the Hopeville area was a major part of the ballistic defense matrix, the missiles raining down on the city must have caught the soldiers there by surprise, as the ICBMs never left their silos.
Hopeville was also the subject of a major Big MT research project concerning meteorology; a project that ended in a disaster, spawning the horrible dust storms the Divide is infamous for. It is mentioned in a note found at the X-17 Meteorological Station in the add-on Old World Blues. Beside the project, Big MT was also a partner in different enterprises: at one point, the entire local hippie commune that protested outside Hopeville against the ongoing Sino-American War were rounded up by special riot control officers wearing a new model of L.A.P.D. riot armor, the whole regulated by the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment wearing a recognizable helmet and a more advanced riot armor, shipped them off to the Big Mountain Research and Development Center as test subjects.

Centuries later, a small survivalist community established itself in the area, created by the Courier. Kept alive by the Courier, it prospered, and more settlers moved into the new city. Eventually it drew the attention of the New California Republic, who began to annex it swiftly for a newly established supply line across the treacherous Divide into the Mojave Wasteland. This drew the attention of the Caesar's Legion, which attempted to cut the new supply line. This war did not destroy the settlement, however. It was the work of the Courier who, returning to the Divide again, carried a package from Navarro by order of the NCR. this package contained a copy of ED-E, and when the robot was activated by the inhabitants, it sent a signal to the dormant nuclear missiles, causing them to begin detonating one after another, splitting the earth, cracking and twisting the landscape, and causing massive earthquakes. This turned Hopeville into what it is now.The vaults aren't safe anymore. The vaults are overun with Bandits, ghouls, or Cannibals. War.....War never changes.
