Not to mention you literally already have the evidence of this chat to use
Zuko 15 Feb, 2020 @ 11:32am
Ah yes, you're going to get famous by stealing an unfinished mod for a dead game. A mod that, because of the Saxxy awards, everyone and their mother knows was created by me. I mean hey, if it gets the mod finished, I honestly don't care. God speed to you, you strange little man.
Zuko 14 Feb, 2020 @ 9:29pm
O btw dassa crazy bro, thx for making me that mod tho...Stupid b!tch, i'll take full credit for it that i made it thx so much Bri you gonna make me famous broooo
Zuko 13 Mar, 2018 @ 10:17am
I came up with some ideas on how we might be able to streamline the mod a bit in terms of switching to the chemist and changing your loadout. Opinions?

Also the animations
Brick 13 Dec, 2017 @ 5:02am
Once I start to learn how to program which will probably be in March I could help. Hopefully we can find a programmer beforehand though.
Zuko 13 Dec, 2017 @ 12:30am
Could be some time. We're still looking for scripters who can actually get him working in TF2.
✩ EXO ✩ 13 Dec, 2017 @ 12:04am
still hyped to see this go live!
Zuko 9 Dec, 2017 @ 5:18am
So thanks to this secret side project I've been working on, I figured out why some of my models were coming out super shiny. The old image editing program I was using was actually breaking the alpha channels. Thankfully Photoshop CS2 is free on the Adobe site if you know where to look and it does the trick just fine.
Brick 1 Dec, 2017 @ 2:59pm
Awesome!
Zuko 1 Dec, 2017 @ 2:34pm
Thanks to a good samaritan on the Chemist's workshop page, the model has been ported to Garry's Mod.

The comments just refreshed and now my response is delayed as hell.
Brick 22 Nov, 2017 @ 7:47am
That would be funny, given that some chemicals sound like you’re speaking a totally different language when you try pronouncing Methionylthreonylthreonylglutaminylarginyl.
Zuko 21 Nov, 2017 @ 9:21am
That is in the works as well.

This big project is going to be a long term thing on the side that I hope to have ready by next November.

The voice pack will be ready way before that.
fio. 21 Nov, 2017 @ 9:11am
How bout voice acting
It's literally the one thing I want to really see in your works lmao
Zuko 21 Nov, 2017 @ 4:42am
I started working on something neato. How neato? It's going to as big as the release of the Chemist model and MTC short.

Not only only is it going to be a bunch of new workshop content, but another new short featuring the Chemist.
Zuko 20 Nov, 2017 @ 2:49pm
I did a little SFM and Photoshopping to give a visual on what I picture playing as the Chemist would look like. http://gtm.you1.cn/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1206818146
fio. 13 Nov, 2017 @ 2:03pm
in-game when
Zuko 13 Nov, 2017 @ 12:53pm
Oh dear... I got the Chemist's gib model working. Problem is the gibs are really tiny. I gotta do some model resizing. I'm learning though. Stuff is actually working now at least. Just the models are really small lol.
fio. 13 Nov, 2017 @ 4:59am
make it a really rare sound.

i like teasing people
Zuko 12 Nov, 2017 @ 9:12pm
Here's a funny idea. When Sniper and Scout throw their jar items they have a line like, "Heads up!" or "Take this!"

It would be funny if sometimes when the Chemist throws a vial, he yells out the name of the chemical like an anime character announcing their attack. This would have to be an occasional thing and not a constant thing, or it would get annoying.
Zuko 12 Nov, 2017 @ 4:24pm
Phew, I've been at it all day. Both the asset pack and icon pack are up now. I've also made a workshop collection, so here's the whole thing.

Zuko 12 Nov, 2017 @ 3:24pm
Asset pack is live. In the next 20 minutes the icon pack will follow once I'm done uploading images. Sadly, you can't upload particles and models together, so they have to go up separate. Annoying.
Zuko 12 Nov, 2017 @ 2:39pm
I have some very basic understanding of programming. With a little cutting and pasting, I should be able to cover the basic stuff. A lot of the code is already there. The hardest part is making this guy fly. We are eventually going to need a real programmer. I'm probably going to be making a Facepunch account this week and start looking around there for people interested in helping.
Brick 12 Nov, 2017 @ 2:25pm
That’s a clever idea, though the only thing holding us back is not having a programmer to do that which sucks.
Zuko 12 Nov, 2017 @ 1:10pm
You know, the interface for Pyro's jetpack is exactly what I had in mind for chemicals. Each chemical would have a different number of refilling bars, and you would need at least one bar full for a certain chemical in order to use it. This mechanic on Pyro's jetpack would be a nice basis to work with whenever we start to actually mod this stuff in.
Brick 11 Nov, 2017 @ 1:16pm
Sweet.
Zuko 10 Nov, 2017 @ 1:03pm
I think I just made a big breaththrough with texturing. Fingers crossed.
Brick 6 Nov, 2017 @ 6:49am
You know, I can’t argue with that. SFM isn’t really user friendly.
Zuko 6 Nov, 2017 @ 3:44am
Sometimes? More like all of the time. I still haven't even finished the lab spatula. No matter what I do, the damn thing keeps coming out ridiculously shiny in SFM.

I've done everything from reworking the textures, to turning phong off in the VMT file and nothing is changing.

As someone who has been into animation and filmmaking for almost 10 years now, I think I can say that SFM is one of the most non user friendly programs out there.

The animation aspect is fine, but when it comes to importing your own content, it's a mess. If a model is changed, I'm having to restart SFM before the changes apply, even when reloading the model, and a lot of things, like this weapon shine, are commands in the texture files when you should be able to level the shine with a slider.
Brick 6 Nov, 2017 @ 2:59am
Sometimes SFM acts a little wonky. It’s alright. In the future we could hopefully get the gib textures.
Zuko 5 Nov, 2017 @ 12:56pm
I'm probably going to give up on the gibs for now. No matter what I do I cannot get the textures to show up in SFM. I was able to make the lab spatula from scratch and that worked just fine. I don't get what the problem is. Everything is where it needs to be. I'm even checking the console and it's saying it can't find the textures in the directory that I have them.
Zuko 5 Nov, 2017 @ 7:33am
Alright, I put together a lab spatula model and got it working in SFM. I learned a lot about modeling while doing this and should be able to get those gibs working later. I might even have the content pack up by tomorrow.

Zuko 5 Nov, 2017 @ 4:59am
Well, this has been my first real crack at modeling something from scratch.
http://gtm.you1.cn/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1192366944
Brick 5 Nov, 2017 @ 4:55am
That sucks. I may make some more teasers soon.
Zuko 4 Nov, 2017 @ 1:34pm
I downloaded Proxy's gib models and I'm trying to get those into SFM at the moment myself. I'm having some issues getting the textures to work.
Brick 4 Nov, 2017 @ 1:30pm
Sorry for yet another hiatus, I’m gonna work on animating some things so that maybe by next year we can get the Chemist into the Saxxies, eh?
Zuko 4 Nov, 2017 @ 4:09am
With a tip from Fio, I found some assets I needed. I started by making an icon for when the Chemist calls for an Engineer to fix his boots.

Zuko 22 Oct, 2017 @ 10:10am
So, the new gas passer reminds me of the nitric fluid for Chemist. Makes me wonder if Valve is aware of our project and got some ideas.

Hell, the jetpack makes me think of the original boot design with hopping around, though I pictured it getting more air than that.
Zuko 17 Oct, 2017 @ 5:56am
Well, Pyro is getting a jetpack. Looks like between Pyro's planned ability to dispel the Chemist's gas chemicals and this, Pyro will definitely be a hard counter to the Chemist.
Zuko 28 Sep, 2017 @ 12:03pm
And here it is in all of it's retro glory.

Zuko 28 Sep, 2017 @ 8:50am
I'm making some good progress with FL Studio. I just finished a really amazing 8bit rendition of the Chemist's theme and I'm so happy with it. It will definitely be included in the SFM soundpack when it releases to the workshop. It's exporting right now and I'll share a link when it's done for if anyone wants to take a listen.
Brick 19 Sep, 2017 @ 3:37am
Yes, true. Music programs can sorta be wonky in that aspect. There's a bunch of loops on Music Maker Jam that you should check out. They have lots of stuff on there as well.
Zuko 16 Sep, 2017 @ 1:10pm
I scored a really nice sounding erhu soundfont for free. It sounds soooo real. Still looking for more realistic instruments to work with though. The less money I have to spend the better, because I need a lot of them lol.
Brick 16 Sep, 2017 @ 9:17am
Awesome. I can't wait to listen to this. I'm so happy for how far all of us came for the project.
Zuko 14 Sep, 2017 @ 8:29pm
At last, I've done something I've been working towards for a while now. I got myself some music making software. It's going to take some time to fully learn how to work with it, but when I'm at a point where I can make some good, high quality music, I plan on remaking the song I used in the Meet the Chemist trailer, but with TF2 instruments and a bit of the Meet the Medic theme remixed in.
fio. 12 Sep, 2017 @ 8:19pm
aight
Zuko 12 Sep, 2017 @ 8:09am
I had hoped that posting the Chemist on the workshop would spark enough interest to get some programmers on board, but that has not been the case. My next order of business is to start working on a full voice pack, and then perhaps it would be a good idea to start advertising him elsewhere and spread the word that we need programmers. Facepunch might be a good place to look.
Brick 19 Jun, 2017 @ 7:23am
Nice
